After finishing this set of photos, I stared at them for a whole day, repeatedly checking to see if any behind-the-scenes slips or errors were visible. The wig was styled into an updo with braids following the original work, and the curve of the bangs on both sides took three versions to look natural. The collar lapels of the jacket and the drape of the pleated underskirt really tested my posture during the actual shoot; even a slight slouch would make me look listless. The most troublesome part was this mechanical arm cosplay. Each finger joint was treated with metallic spray paint. Wearing them limited my range of motion, but to accurately recreate the gestures of holding a pen, playing the piano, and touching letter paper, I practiced the hand movements for two days in advance.

In the piano-playing shots of Image 1, the reflections on the keys were very bright. The photographer used side-backlighting to illuminate the edges of the hair strands while preserving the wood grain in the shadows, making the final texture better than expected. In the shot of Image 2 leaning over the desk to write a letter, warm yellow light diffuses from the desk lamp, capturing the wax seal on the letter paper and the reflection on the glass ink bottle. I quite like the mirror set in Image 3, where the reflection on the glass and the real hand form a contrast between reality and illusion, which counts as a narrative attempt. For the steampunk style scene in Image 4 lying in the pile of flowers, the props were actually all fake flowers, but after scattering them in layers and adding a dark-toned filter, it unexpectedly yielded an oil-painting feel. In the two reading shots of Image 5, my eyes are looking away from the camera. Combined with the red velvet curtains behind me, the dramatic indoor atmosphere instantly stands out. The wall-leaning shot in Image 6 simply used natural light to sweep out the profile of my side profile without forcing any extra highlights.

The photographer put a lot of thought into the lighting and camera angles this time. The post-processing color grading unified the contrast between warm orange and navy blue, and there was no excessive skin smoothing, preserving the authentic textures of the clothes and wig. The nine photos posted are all fully edited, but zooming into the large images still allows you to clearly see the fabric creases and metallic scratches, which is something I'm quite satisfied with. Since the scenes were a rented vintage study and piano room, the prop pairings also stayed as true as possible to the historical background of the original work. I hope everyone can feel that world where emotions were conveyed through writing and sending letters. Regarding image theft, I have already seen unauthorized rehosting on the second-hand marketplace. After reporting it, the other party only took down some of them. Please look out for the watermark and original source when saving photos, and do not be misled by impostors. Finally, thanks to photographer Gu Yue for providing this set of photos and patiently cooperating with me to adjust poses and light positions throughout the session.
