This set of school uniform convention photos was taken quite casually without complex setups, but the turnout is quite satisfying. An outdoor location with grey floor tiles was selected, featuring ample light where the strong afternoon sun casts down, forming crisp and clean shadows of the character on the ground. This time I portrayed Eriri Cosplay from Losing Heroines in her daily school uniform look, focusing primarily on an authentic and faithful school atmosphere.
I put quite a bit of thought into the wig, selecting a bright pale gold style and combing it into her iconic blonde twin tails. The black bow hair accessory on top and the ribbons on both sides were meticulously selected, striving to make the flow and curve of the hair strands close to the character's original setting. For clothing, a sailor uniform with a blue and white striped collar was chosen, and the red necktie acts as a finishing touch, instantly giving the white-and-blue upper body a visual focus. The pleats of the pleated skirt are well-maintained, and combined with black over-the-knee socks and deep brown loafers, the lower body outfit also achieves a texture matching the character.
During the shooting process, the photographer chose a high-angle perspective looking down, and I squatted down accordingly, gently gathering a strand of hair with both hands. This looked-down-upon composition often creates a unique lower-angle perspective, which, paired with my deliberately maintained cold expression, aligns well atmospherically with the character's tsundere yet slightly detached traits. The blue backpack casually placed to the side and its hanging little plush doll just happened to add a touch of daily commuting detail to this frame, making it look not like a forced pose but more like a spontaneous moment captured on the way to school.
It has to be said that such casual cosplay stylings demand high cleanliness in makeup. Earth-toned eyeshadow was selected to make the pupils look more spirited, while the base makeup was kept as lightweight as possible to avoid oily shine under intense light. The lip color is a natural rose-bean paste shade, maintaining the overall fresh, youthful girl look. The difficulty of convention photos lies in the uncontrollability of light and angles, where facial shadows can often look very harsh, but this photo beautifully utilized this hard light to outline the three-dimensionality of my facial features, showing absolutely no frizz on the wig from the side.
Looking back at this set of photos, pieces like this that don't require too many ostentatious props actually make it easier to grasp the soul of the character itself. There's no need to force complex movements; merely a simple squatting posture, a gaze looking directly at the lens, combined with the signature mix of a sailor uniform, blonde twin tails, and over-the-knee socks, successfully completes a wonderful interpretation of the character. Although the shooting location was simple, I feel the final photos perfectly delivered that Japanese school style and the character's uniquely awkward cuteness for this Cosplay photoshoot.
