[Ishtar Cosplay] Goddess of Venus from Fate/Grand Order: Today's Convention Photos

This set of Ishtar cosplay photos was taken on June 9, 2024, at the Blue Sky Anime Convention, specifically near the entrance of the Hunan International Convention and Exhibition Center. I arrived early that day to scout for ideal shooting spots before the crowds grew too large. In the end, I picked a spot in front of the glass doors because the cool-toned glass and natural reflections made skin tones appear more translucent. A lot of effort went into preparing this costume. The skirt was crafted from navy sequin-embellished fabric with a stiff petticoat that held its voluminous shape firmly when standing. The white high-neck inner layer and detached white gloves were also distinct highlights; this dark-and-light contrast made the character stand out sharply on camera, while the long black hair with blunt bangs looked striking within the convention hall ambiance. Before shooting, I briefly discussed the intended mood with photographer Huangzu. He suggested using hand placements to optimize body proportions—for example, placing hands on hips while engaging the core to accentuate the waistline, or angling slightly when lifting the skirt hem to leverage its flared silhouette and highlight leg lines. The first squatting pose incorporated a face-covering gesture for added dramatic expression. The golden polyhedron prop in my hand was actually quite heavy, requiring a steady center of gravity to hold securely. To avoid excessive creasing while squatting, I smoothed out the white lace lining beforehand. Outdoor convention shoots differ greatly from indoor studio sessions, especially with crowds constantly moving around. To avoid passersby in the background, we had to snap shots rapidly during brief lulls, demanding quick transitions between expressions and poses. Walking around also caused the wig to get messy easily, requiring continuous maintenance. When curating these photos, I aimed to preserve the authentic fabric textures seen in person. Thus, post-processing focused primarily on light-and-shadow balance to retain the subtle shimmer of the skirt fabric and the crisp tone of the white gloves without exaggerated reshaping. Cosplaying at a convention always comes with unpredictability, but the real environment, natural light, and lively atmosphere add a distinct authentic presence. Portraying this character was a rewarding challenge that enriched my experience with varied camera angles and posing. The shoot went smoothly, allowing me to connect with fellow fans and recapture the excitement of cosplaying this character. Having the costume, props, and makeup details fully documented through the camera brought immense fulfillment.
