[Richard cosplay] Fate/Grand Order Convention Journal & Mirror Selfies at FGO Fes

Day 2 at FGO Fes was much busier than expected, with huge crowds pouring into the venue right from the morning. Walking through the crowd wearing this blonde wig and black-framed glasses definitely took some getting used to. The volume of the wig restricted my field of vision, causing me to subconsciously adjust my glasses frequently. This motion unexpectedly fit the interactive character lore of "Richard loves snatching glasses," as if part of the character was fully brought to life in reality.

A lot of thought went into preparing this Richard cosplay. The wig was selected from bright, matte fibers; to match the character's visual design, the front bangs were set with a heat gun, with flipped arcs and sideburns trimmed repeatedly. For makeup, the outer corners of the eyeliner were drawn longer to match his expression, layered with a shimmer-infused dark brown eyeshadow for depth. Paired with square half-rim glasses, the overall visual center felt very stable.

Regarding attire, balancing photo quality with walking comfort was key. The outer jacket was a vintage-washed wine-red leather coat, which showed dynamic sheen under bright mall lighting. Beneath was a simple dark base layer paired with fitted black trousers. The female outfit featured a classic Japanese sailor collar uniform style—a dark blue top with white collar splicing, a wider red bow tie, and a greyish-black pleated skirt paired with black Cosplay stockings, forming an iconic color palette.

Mirror selfies often present challenges with reflections, phone placement, or distorted lower-body proportions. When shooting Photo 2, I chose a slightly lower camera angle to make the upper body the visual focal point while showing our height difference and positioning in the mirror. Furthermore, interacting with the lens via eye contact creates immersion for viewers. In the narrow restroom setting, we tweaked the phone angle and standing distance multiple times, achieving a great atmospheric result.

Shooting in front of the floor mirror in Photo 1 happened right around noon amidst heavy mall traffic. We chose this spot because the translucent ceiling contained intersecting geometric light strips, framing the composition naturally without looking empty. Although background milk tea shop signs and passersby added slight clutter, the soft lighting clearly highlighted wig reflections and leather jacket textures, making it a keeper for our Anime convention cosplay log.

Photo 2 was taken in front of a mirror in a relatively enclosed restroom. Free from natural light interference, pure white cold lights fully highlighted the contrasting red and blue colors of the outfit without messy color pollution. In this shot, my partner posed with a V sign, while I habitually held the bottom of my glasses frames with two fingers. The relaxed moment felt completely natural, like two friends fooling around in private.

As for the green circular standee labeled "Xiaoyue" in Photo 3, it was a quirky prop found at FGO Fes. Though its origin was unclear, holding it in front of a golden shrine model with red under-lighting glowing through and cold white spotlights created a striking contrast. Though my face wasn't fully visible, taking a close-up with this sign captured a unique Anime convention cosplay memory.

The two-day itinerary flew by, yet every step—from tedious pre-makeup prep to standing in the bustling hall—felt deeply rewarding. The glasses gimmick, outfit texture, and light capture joined together to complete this rich Fate/Grand Order event experience.
