Now that the photos for Ardelia are curated, I feel the makeup, styling, and prop craftsmanship are worth breaking down in detail. Preparing for this character took nearly three weeks of advance work, with extensive research going into every single step, from garment patterning to wig sculpting. The base wig was a soft pale brownish tone, with the bangs trimmed finely to preserve an airy, feathered texture, and the side locks layered to sculpt the contours of my face. The twin horn accessories perched at the crown were the centerpiece: to achieve that coveted translucent radiance, the prop maker tested various resin and acrylic blends before settling on a pearlescent-finish resin that yields a crystalline, glistening gleam under studio key lights. The plush beast ears nestled just below the horns were customized with soft pink lining along the inner flaps to harmonize with the overall color scheme.
On the makeup front, I selected matching-toned colored contact lenses to complement the character's pink palette. The eye makeup incorporated deepened shading along the outer corners and lower lash lines paired with natural-looking false lashes, eschewing an exaggerated digital-influencer look in favor of bright, clear, and expressive eyes. For the lips, I chose a dewy coral-pink tint that resonated with the overarching pinkish-violet aesthetic. Layering the costume was another major priority for this shoot. The sleeveless pink collared shirt was paired with a black-and-white striped ribbon bow tie detailed with subtle typography prints. The red fingerless gloves made a bold statement on camera, with crisp white piping adding graphic visual depth. In the first shot, I tugged gently at my collar to showcase the garment's neck structure and collarbone lines while fixing an intense, direct gaze on the lens to convey the character's quiet tension, framed by purple ambient backlighting that bled smoothly across the edges. In the second frame, flashing a subtle peace sign captured a relaxed, candid moment, where a slightly tilted Dutch angle combined with magenta neon light trails infused the setting with a gritty sci-fi wasteland aura.
Controlling the dynamic range during on-location outdoor shoots can be notoriously tricky—pink fabrics blow out easily in harsh sunlight—so we chose a controlled indoor studio build, deploying focused purple and pink lighting to shape the atmosphere. To align with the creative theme of Endfield: Dreamscape of Wind and Snow, we graded the color palette in post-production with cool violet-pink undertones, lending the visuals a surreal dreaminess laced with the title's trademark synthesis of technology and post-apocalyptic ruin. Throughout posing, I paid conscious attention to my hands: because the red gloves are so visually dominant, overly dramatic hand poses could easily overpower the frame, so I kept them grounded in understated, organic gestures like lightly grazing the collar or making simple signs. The shoot flowed effortlessly from start to finish, with both prop fidelity and makeup finish reaching our exact vision. Ardelia's character design is brimming with rich elements—from fuzzy beast ears to mechanical horns, every facet invites careful dedication to recreate. The final photographs capture the textile textures and skin luminosity beautifully, serving as a passionate tribute to the character and title for this Endfield Creation Support project. I hope everyone enjoys this interpretation, and I look forward to exploring more exciting stylistic details in future shoots.
