[Yutenji Nyamu cosplay] Ave Mujica Gothic Red & Black Style: Black stockings & High Heels Retouching Sharing

For this post-processing, I mainly focused on the contrast relationship between the character and the background, especially the subtle sheen of the Black stockings emerging from the shadows and the reflections of the red high heels on the black-and-white checkered floor tiles. The initial studio lighting was primarily warm-toned, which, paired with the red velvet curtain backdrop and the cello in the corner, established an overall color palette interwoven with dark red and black—the most fitting atmosphere for this costume.

The outfit actually has plenty of details: the translucent puff sleeves naturally carry a subtle luster, while the black lace-up corset needs to be cinched tight to bring out body shape. Additionally, the red skirt and the red thigh garter band require preserving their authentic textures during retouching rather than smoothing them out excessively. The wig is light-purple short hair; styling focused on adjusting side strands along the cheeks to soften facial contours, which, paired with red eye makeup and colored contacts, closely captured Nyamu cosplay's mischievous, little-devil charm.

The theme of this shoot was set as "I, Fear Not Love" (我、愛を恐れるなかれ). Since the character's canonical personality is lively and magnetic, poses were deliberately inspired by sitting along the back of a leather chair and stepping onto the seat while looking back over the shoulder, striking the perfect effortless, playful attitude. The first front-facing seated photo focuses on strong visual impact; during editing, catchlights in the eyes were brightened, which, combined with the small black butterfly prop in hand, sharply concentrated the viewer's gaze.

In post-processing, subtle adjustments were made to skin quality while retaining natural skin texture, with a primary focus on tuning the saturation of the red skirt and thigh garter to create a vivid red-and-black contrast against the black corset and Black stockings. Vintage gold-framed mirrors, tassels, and the cello in the foreground were slightly dimmed in brightness to prevent background elements from stealing focus from the character. In color grading, shadows were kept crisp without getting muddy while highlights were protected from blowing out; wood grain on the cello and velvet textures were color-graded coherently. Due to wide lighting contrast, color masking was applied to individually adjust facial color temperature, background temperature, and the red drape hue.

The entire editing process took about three hours, including smoothing garment creases, adjusting the position of the thigh garter straps, and refining specular highlights on the shoes. To enhance overall tonal unity, a subtle vignette was added. This set avoided excessive liquefying warping, primarily aiming to recreate the character's innate charm while accentuating the combination of red dress, Black stockings, and red stilettos. The retro old-school Gothic scene harmonized wonderfully with the costume—from props to the cello, everything echoed the dark stage aesthetic, making both shooting and retouching a truly textured cosplay experience.
