[Tohsaka Rin cosplay] Fate Convention Photos: Classic Recreation with Red and Black Uniform and Over-the-Knee Stockings

It's 2024—does anyone still remember Tohsaka Rin? For these Convention photos, I chose a Red and black uniform, which is one of my favorite looks from Fate.

I did plenty of prep work before the shoot. The red turtleneck sweater has a crisp, structured texture, and the white cross motif across the chest is truly eye-catching. Paired with a black pleated miniskirt and Black over-the-knee stockings, the overall color contrast is striking. To make my gaze match the character's aura, I specifically selected bright blue colored contacts, put on a straight black wig, and spent considerable time fine-tuning the twin ribbons on both sides.

Lighting at the convention venue was rather complex. Photographer Kazu-Ma was deeply professional—specifically finding a dark backdrop and using a wide aperture to blur the background lights into creamy bokeh circles, beautifully highlighting the main subject. The first photo incorporates hand motion blur to simulate the moment of releasing magic; the second is a profile backward glance, letting the long hair flutter for added dynamism; the third is a complete full-body standing pose, resting a hand on my chin, adjusted just right to showcase the leg contours and the texture of the Black over-the-knee stockings, which is why I chose the third photo as the main cover image.

In such a crowded convention environment, one must not only block out distractions from passersby but also maintain constant expression control. To recreate the character's confident and competitive nature, I practiced coordinating my gaze and posture in front of a mirror. The red and black palette itself has high saturation under lighting, delivering great texture without excessive post-processing, while the black stockings against the dark background make the overall silhouette appear much more elongated. Although the high collar felt somewhat warm after prolonged wear, it was completely worth it for character fidelity. Pairing with over-the-knee stockings for this shoot also gave me a better appreciation of my own leg proportions. The shoot was a delightful experience—huge thanks to the photographer for capturing these moments, allowing me to preserve such an atmospheric set of Convention photos.
