[Minamoto no Yorimitsu cosplay] Fate/Grand Order 3rd Anniversary: Convention Photos Share

This time I cosplayed Minamoto no Yorimitsu from Fate/Grand Order. Just in time for the 3rd anniversary, I decided to dig out this purple battle dress for a photoshoot. Many people seeing this outfit asked if it was Nozomi Tojo—after all, purple short hair plus a cheongsam-style design can easily overlap—but players familiar with the Fate series and FGO should recognize this Heian-era female warrior at a glance. The costume was specially custom-made back then, featuring dark purple jacquard fabric trimmed with gold piping. The row of royal blue frog buttons along the collar and chest really tested handiwork, taking me a long while sewing to align their positions properly. To restore Raikou-mama's cool yet dignified aura, the wig selected was a bright pearlescent purple, with bangs intentionally styled in a side part and a long braid woven at the back. For eye makeup, light purple contact lenses were used to echo the overall color tone, with eyeliner slightly elongated to make the eyes look sharper. Paired with a black folding fan, light purple gloves, and a ring of white plush decoration around the shoulders, I was quite satisfied with the overall atmosphere.

Attending anime conventions is truly exhausting—getting up at 5:30 AM to apply makeup and put on the wig, dragging a suitcase out the door at 6:00 AM, only to find a long queue already wrapped around the venue entrance upon arrival. Once inside, not only did I have to push through crowds to find open spots, but I also had to dodge random stray cameras. Standing and shooting for over two hours left my waist and legs aching immensely. However, meeting many fellow fans on site made it worth it: some recognized Minamoto no Yorimitsu and came over for photos, and some even pulled out their phones to show me their spooks while gacha summoning, making for delightful conversations. Moving around the hall in this outfit was actually quite inconvenient due to the high collar and plush shoulder trim, which easily brushed against nearby display racks when turning. Thus, I tried my best to keep my upper body upright during shooting, which happened to showcase the garment's tailored lines beautifully.

As for why an indoor convention was chosen over an outdoor location shoot, it was mainly due to continuous rain lately leaving outdoor grounds muddy. Although the exhibition center's lighting was complex, using aisle ceiling lights and artificial sources could cast softer shadows; as long as direct harsh overhead white light was avoided, skin tone and the Purple cheongsam garment texture restored wonderfully. In post-processing, I didn't apply heavy filter adjustments, mainly blurring cluttered background footsteps and passersby slightly so everyone could focus on the character and props in these Convention photos. A lot of thought went into this look from design to physical assembly, especially checking hair flow directions and frog button symmetry repeatedly against official art. Although a full convention day leaves the body feeling completely broken apart, being able to briefly transform into a beloved character in a 2D world remains a truly special experience. I will continue studying Minamoto no Yorimitsu's other Spirit Origin ascension looks, hoping to challenge even more complex gear next time.
