[Sandrone Cosplay] Genshin Impact: 10-Minute Speed Photoshoot Challenge at Northern Comic Convention

What surprised me most at this Northern Comic Convention was the set installation on site. I originally thought it would just be an ordinary booth, but when I saw that massive red velvet curtain paired with a pure golden high-back throne, along with delicate floral props, I truly felt transported into a theatrical stage set. Because my schedule this time was extremely tight and the appointment with the photographer was finalized at the last minute, we ultimately settled on a "10-minute speed photoshoot" plan.

Since we had to get all the photos done within ten minutes, preliminary preparations became particularly vital. First was the hair and makeup: the wig was custom light-blonde made specifically for this character, with bangs layered just right to flatter face shape while preserving that distinctive aloof temperament. The black choker at the neck and red gem accessories are the soul of this outfit, featuring finely crafted gold borders. The top boasts a paneling design, where the color-blocking of white, red, and black combined with a metallic gem ornament at the waist delivers a gorgeous yet elegant visual aesthetic. To ensure optimal performance in front of the lens, I took special care adjusting the fold angle of the detachable oversleeves; while these detached oversized sleeves look fantastic on camera, they easily sag if neglected. The skirt layering was another design requiring careful layout—when sitting down, the multi-layered white and black ruffled hem had to be fully spread out to harmonize with the spacious golden throne, which turned out to be quite a physical workout!

Teamwork during the shoot was the key to this Anime convention photoshoot success. Special thanks go to photographer @Newtonton (Pure Yang Palace ver.) and my friend @Popcorn🍿, who acted as our human light stand throughout. Lighting at convention venues is notoriously complex; while the red backdrop curtain is a fantastic ambient prop, it easily casts a reddish tone on skin, making proper lighting setup crucial. We did a few test shots on site to measure exposure, adjusting color temperature and highlight positioning. Within those brief ten minutes, they worked tirelessly like model workers, continuously guiding my seated poses, gaze, and hand gestures. From the imposing presence of sitting on the throne looking straight into the camera, to the gentle moment of gazing down at flowers in my hands, to the calm static display holding a white tray, every camera angle was captured with precision. This high-intensity, fast-paced shooting style actually helped me get into character quickly—once focused, there was no time for nervousness, making camera expressions much more natural.

Honestly, in my Coser daily life routine, I'm usually a slow-to-warm photographer, used to taking my time finding angles and tweaking poses. But this Northern Comic Convention truly showed a veteran like me what efficient set design looks like. It was hard to imagine before that a convention floor could build such an exquisite backdrop; the spaciousness created by the magnificent golden throne and red curtain saved a lot of hassle in post-editing. Especially in the composition with red flowers in photo 3, along with shots featuring tulips and yellow chrysanthemums as props, simply sitting on the throne instantly maximized the cinematic ambience.

People say conventions are best suited for extroverts, but this speed experience made me realize that with a great team and a solid set, even introverts can produce stunning photos quickly. Though it took merely ten minutes, the final results far exceeded my expectations, capturing light, shadows, and garment details with impressive texture. This tight photoshoot experience tests not only the stability of hair and makeup, but also the photographer's mastery over the environment. Overall, this innovative shooting style is well worth trying—when large blocks of time aren't available, playing with miniature set installations is a fantastic way to enjoy a convention. Fully showcasing exquisite wigs, metallic ornaments, and glossy premium fabrics in front of a red curtain brings a genuine sense of accomplishment.
