Looking through this photo set on my phone, every time I see the fifth photo where I'm holding a vintage red rotary telephone with a glowing GAME OVER sign nearby, I feel it fits Anby's whimsical vibe remarkably well. I prepared a lot of details before this shoot, as I've always felt that since it's Anby from Zenless Zone Zero, her personality must be conveyed through body language and props.
Let's start with the gear. Although this black-and-green color-blocked tactical techwear is off-the-shoulder, to restore that light yet sharp protective feel, shoulder straps and arm buckle straps were manually adjusted countless times to get set. The black pleated skirt combined with those over-the-knee black stockings fits Anby's contrast of "merciless in battle, yet airheaded in daily life." Like me, many fans of her original design are intrigued by why Anby always wears those oversized headphones. For this shoot, I specifically focused on the headphones' lighting effects and texture; wearing them for long periods on set genuinely created an immersive feel of "blocking out surrounding noise to enter a gaming world of my own."
As for props, the broadsword in my hand and that yellow mechanical plushie were absolute highlights. To capture the sword's wide jagged blade texture, the photographer used cooler lighting to highlight its sharp edge. Meanwhile, the yellow plushie complemented shots needing a "relaxed" vibe—like playing with it while sitting on a leather sofa, creating strong visual tension against the sharp sword-wielding poses. The scenes intersecting bookshelves with neon signs created a red-and-blue ambient glow that fit the cyberpunk and arcade aesthetic, echoing Zenless Zone Zero's high-saturation urban wasteland style. The final shot against a blue-to-white gradient backdrop aimed to focus entirely on movement; kneeling on one knee supported by the sword looked cool while cleanly displaying leg lines and tactical gear synergy for this Anime-style photography set.
Regarding the query in the post description, I'm equally curious: what is Anby constantly listening to in her headphones? Is it encrypted combat communications or just background music? Carrying this understanding of the character before the lens, I deliberately restrained my facial expressions to present that cold, focused, yet slightly naive state. From styling assembly and venue coordination to lighting and pose guidance, the photographer and I communicated extensively. Wearing a somewhat stuffy techwear jacket while executing seamless sword-drawing and horizontal slash moves was quite a physical test. But seeing the final photos made every bit of hard work feel worth it.
As a Zenless Zone Zero player, doing an Anby cosplay in person was a deeply precious experience. Her techwear style, iconic short silver hair, crimson eyes, and the fusion of Japanese techwear aesthetics with futuristic tech in her props were key focuses I captured in this shoot. I hope this photo set lets everyone feel her cool, sharp demeanor alongside her casual, relaxed vibe. I'll wrap up this post here—next time I'll challenge different styles, or upgrade this Stocking outfit look with fancier action moves and props!
