This time, I shot this Genshin Impact Ganyu look in a studio. The whole process went quite smoothly, so I'd like to talk about the preparations and shooting details of this set. The decision to try this white and blue modified outfit stems from the rich context of fan-made anime girl creations, where casual or independent setting styles often breathe new visual life into a character. Aside from the classic elements of the original design—such as the large, curved red and black horns and the light blue wig—this outfit's tailoring aligns more with modern aesthetic silhouettes.
Wearing the wig and horn accessories is always the first step of the makeup process. The wig on top needs to be styled for a fluffy, slightly wavy texture, with the ends on both sides draping naturally. The pair of red horns must be securely fastened to the wig base, as this affects the weight balance of the entire head later on. I adjusted the angles several times on set to achieve the most natural look.
The main top selected today is a Chinese-style short garment with large areas of white space interspersed with blue patterns like blue-and-white porcelain. Paired with a blue ribbon pendant around the neck and detached white sleeves on the arms, the overall temperament carries a hint of agility within its cool elegance. For the lower half, I chose a black base layer spliced with mesh, and put on a classic black tights outfit with black high-heeled leather shoes. This lower match visually elongates the leg proportions, and combined with the flowing hem of the top, creates beautiful lines whether squatting, sitting, or standing.
Regarding the composition for this cosplay photography, we adopted two main action quadrants to express the texture of this look. For the first set of sitting poses, a thick white plush mat was cushioned as a base, with legs crossed while sitting sideways. This angle actually tests the positioning of the legs; with the toes slightly pressed down, the curve of the high heels modifies the calf lines. Together with a posture of raising the arm slightly upward, the overall center of gravity is stable, yet there is a sense of poised lightness. The other set of standing poses amplifies the overall silhouette of the clothing. With one hand gently touching the collar and the other naturally resting behind the side, this movement is perfect for emphasizing the garment's tailoring, including the blue and white tassel ribbons hanging from both sides, which drape naturally when standing still. The studio lights were even, and the solid blue background paper made the silhouette look exceptionally clean.
In terms of character accuracy, I did some homework on the physical presentation of these red goat horns. I did subtle shadow transitions on the flesh-colored base makeup to make the connection between the horns and the head more realistic, avoiding any abrupt disconnect. While it's impossible to 100% replicate the adeptus-like aura from the game, through an interpretation that leans more towards modernity in the anime girl context, I hope to convey the character's gentle yet steadfast core in front of the camera. During the shoot, I also needed to constantly watch out for whether the wig shifted or if the knots on the sleeves were symmetrical—these are all trivial but crucial details to ensure.
That's about it for my thoughts on the shoot. This type of modified-style cosplay actually demonstrates the character's possibilities in another universe. Transforming the design language of the 2D world into 3D photography requires both matching the spiritual core of the original character design and presenting sufficient completion in real light, shadow, and clothing materials. Controlling the details during preparation and shooting is the key to letting the final photos convey the character's charm. The lighting and composition for this set were very comfortable, and the post-processing retained the original clean light-blue background tone without excessive, complex editing, letting the tailoring and colors of the garment itself become the visual focus.
