When shooting the visual portraits for this Indigo-Dyed Dream theme, I stood beside a moss-covered stone lantern in the garden. The soft light filtering through the woods beautifully brought out the textured interplay of deep blue and white in the costume. This Azure Spirit Dream outfit is packed with fine details, especially the oversized sleeves and ruffled frills along the hemline. To achieve a dynamic, floating silhouette, I repeatedly adjusted the flare of the skirt, shifting postures around the stone lantern while coordinating with the golden wand and colorful ribbons in hand to capture satisfying snapshots. Photographer Yekong handled the environment with great finesse, using background blur to prominently showcase the subject. The costume crafter, Zhi Nv Que Qing, dedicated tremendous effort to recreating this outfit—everything from the collar pleats to the cuff embroidery carries exceptional texture and craftsmanship.
Wearing such a heavy outfit was physically demanding; the oversized bow headdress placed noticeable pressure on the neck. Yet, to convey a sense of lightness and grace before the lens, I had to keep an upright posture throughout the shoot. The waist cutout design combined with White stockings added visual layering without detracting from the overall dreamy aesthetic. Incorporating the core setting of Reimu Hakurei, I strove to capture a balance of imposing dignity and spirited agility. The entire shoot was pleasant and relaxed, with smooth communication with the photographer; the prop ribbons often tangled when waved and needed repeated untangling, which became an amusing little interlude during the process. The resulting photos delivered a stunning color atmosphere and tone.
