The moment Lucy's swimsuit outfit from Zenless Zone Zero arrived, I immediately scheduled an on-location shoot by the coast. The fabric texture was even better than anticipated out of the package, so that very afternoon we braved the blazing sun and dashed straight to the sand. For Lucy swimsuit, the core centerpiece is undeniably the pink-and-white baseball cap—ensuring the typography and geometric motifs were spot-on, along with her soaring ahoge ahoge strand aloft. To faithfully recreate this quirk, I inserted crafting wire inside the wig base so it stayed razor-straight even against ferocious ocean gusts. The blonde twintail wig had just been combed out and lightly curled, allowing the locks to catch radiant golden specular highlights under backlight. In makeup, to complement coastal daylight and 2D styling, I selected warm peachy-pink eyeshadow paired with reddish-brown contact lenses, finished with an ultra-fair yet long-wear liquid foundation base. Around my neck sat a black leather choker, with pink-rimmed diving goggles resting over my chest. Getting the goggles to sit right took some work, tweaking the strap length so they rested centrally as a crisp visual focal point. The bikini top features a pure white crisscross halter design with playful neckties, layered under a sheer pink cropped jacket with pom-pom accents on the sleeves, matched with a high-waisted white mini skirt and draped pearl waist chain. Blue and white athletic wristbands on my wrists added vibrant color pops, making the overall coordinate brilliantly bright and brim-full of summer energy.
We arrived at the beach right around 4:00 PM as the sun began to sink westward, transitioning harsh midday rays into warm, diffused golden light. The ocean wind was gusty, sending the pink jacket and skirt fluttering continuously. We chose a spot right along the water's edge. The first frame was a bust shot, adjusting the cap brim with one hand while leaning forward slightly; the photographer noted this gave my gaze sharper focus while backlight softened my cheeks. The second shot was hands-on-hips gazing directly into the lens—demanding open shoulders to lift the chest line naturally for an aura of confident dynamism. The third shot explored a crouch, which wonderfully flatters leg lines, but keeping balance in shifting sand was tough as my heels kept sinking while flashing a peace sign; it took multiple tries to find my center of gravity. Throughout the shoot, we leveraged the solar angle so highlights traced my hair strands and shoulders into a delicate rim light halo. I also wore a smartwatch, which let me track time conveniently while serving as a subtle modern accessory.
When doing outdoor Swimsuit cosplay, I always make it a rule to test every accessory beforehand—including wristbands, waist chains, and goggles—to confirm they don't produce awkward specular glare on camera. With high UV index along the coast, frequent sunscreen reapplication and setting spray are non-negotiable. Furthermore, when hanging diving goggles around the neck, adjust the strap so it doesn't crowd the neckline, which otherwise foreshortens the neck visually. In backlit angles where faces tend to underexpose, I had the photographer meter for facial highlights and dial up exposure compensation slightly, preserving an airy, luminous background without plunging facial features into shadow. All in all, while this coordinate features numerous accessories, its on-body silhouette is fantastic, and the color story is breathtakingly eye-catching by the sea. I hope this set passes on that boundless Summer beach energy to all of you!
