Shooting this set for Genshin Impact Columbina Cosplay involved preparing many details from initial scene concepts to actual studio shooting. When cosplaying characters from the Genshin Impact series, I always place special emphasis on capturing the character's aura. This time, I didn't deliberately pursue grand or exaggerated movements, but rather wanted to recreate her atmosphere of mystery, elegance, and even a subtle sense of detachment.
As for the studio setup, to suit this pure, pristine, yet fragile feel, the photography team used a vast amount of pure white tulle as the background, building a ring-shaped softbox structure in the center to highlight focal presence. On the left were stacked large transparent crystal props, while the right featured a sophisticated blue-and-white floral arrangement—not only lilies, but also slightly trailing pale purple flowers. The ground was covered with white blooms, and a fog machine was specifically turned on to create swirling mist, giving the illusion of being transported straight into Fairyland style photography when sitting within it.
Now let's focus on this outfit. The base palette centers around white and ice blue, but the layering is highly complex. The outer layer consists of expansive light tulle that appears semi-transparent and dreamy under light; meanwhile, the lining uses a slightly firmer fabric for structural support, holding up the three-dimensional silhouette of the character's attire. The bronze-gold metallic ornaments on the chest and waist serve as visual focal points, adding weight and refinement to the otherwise soft, flowing look. The white tulle wraps around the arms were also intentionally styled—the flowing ribbons are not merely decorative, as walking or waving arms naturally drives gorgeous trails through the air.
The wig chosen was a black base with reddish-pink gradient straight bangs; the gradient effect on the wig ends truly tested styling craftsmanship, requiring careful grooming to avoid frizz. The makeup artist paired this with subtle red tones in the eye makeup, mirroring the wig perfectly for a clean, luminous look. I think the shoes were another huge highlight: light blue bead decorations adorned both sides of the ankles, while white tights extending to the toes incorporated transparent strap lines, making the leg silhouette look elongated and seamless for a cohesive lower-body design in this Anime cosplay.
Regarding shooting poses, we ultimately chose a semi-seated posture for the primary visual. Sitting on a high transparent stool with one leg slightly bent and the other extending naturally forward showed off the skirt hem and leg lines while conveying the character's unhurried composure through a relaxed posture. For lighting, the photographer intentionally utilized high-key soft light, almost eliminating harsh shadows to make the whole composition extremely clear, beautifully presenting both the white background and skin texture.
Throughout the shooting process, because many tulle and ribbon materials were so lightweight, even slight movements created flying fabric effects. Thus, before pressing the shutter many times, we had to repeatedly adjust the costume and groom hair stray strands—a process that deeply tested our patience. But when the final images came out, seeing that cool yet gentle Genshin Impact character trait beautifully recreated made all the hard work feel completely worth it. Lastly, I'd like to say that when you wear this outfit, the character's traits truly influence your posture; you naturally lighten your movements and slow your breath. Perhaps that is the most charming and immersive part of Cosplay sharing and roleplay.
