The event photos and official photos from this Zenless Zone Zero Fes have finally been sorted out. I cosplayed the shark girl Ellen Joe. There are truly so many details in this styling, so today let's talk in detail about the shooting and makeup/styling process. The wig was specifically trimmed to recreate that slightly messy short hair, with red highlights at the ends. The golden star and cloud stickers on the face were also applied piece by piece by myself; to match her slightly misanthropic yet cool shark-like temperament, the eye makeup intensified the red blending, paired with a rather aggressive eyeliner, and after putting on circle lenses, the aura immediately emerged.
In terms of clothing, this black sleeveless zippered top has a fantastic texture, and the black-and-white jagged design around the collar is very eye-catching. The clothes are printed with white stars and handwritten letters, looking somewhat street-rock style. The lower body is an irregular pleated miniskirt, with white piping along the edges to increase layering. What needs to be emphasized most is the leg coordination: one leg features Black stockings paired with a leather garter ring, while the other leg features that extremely exaggerated graffiti-covered pointed-toe tall boot. Putting on this outfit, and strapping on this white electric guitar prop, makes me feel like my whole person has become very sharp.
The shooting location was chosen as a cyberpunk-feeling night street. We found a red vintage Toyota sedan; the body's streamline paired with the neon signs in the background created an extremely intense color clash. The red-and-black contrast combined with the cold blue light of the night view perfectly fits the slightly dangerous and mysterious atmosphere of New Eridu.
To fit Ellen's bassist setting, I specially practiced several playing poses. Sitting on the car hood, or stepping on the car with one leg, that uninhibited feeling naturally exuded. This can also be considered a little professional obsession of mine—hoping that not only the costume looks alike, but the actions and expressions are also on point. Shooting night scenes tests fill-in lighting greatly; the photographer used lighting to outline the car body's metal texture and the character's contours clearly, and the light reflection formed a wonderful light source transition on the car paint. Although there were high-difficulty actions, like high leg raises on the roof, the overall visual impact presented was extremely strong, and the texture of the stockings and tall boots was fully displayed under the lighting. The polishing of every single detail is to make Ellen's character more stereoscopic and real; this shooting experience is truly unforgettable, and I also thank the photographer for their hard work, hoping this photo set lets everyone feel the character's charm.
