[Ellen Joe cosplay] The Shark Girl Bunny Girl in Zenless Zone Zero - Image 1

For this bunny girl concept shoot of Ellen Joe from Zenless Zone Zero, we made quite a few new attempts in material selection and lighting. The main outfit chose a highly reflective patent leather material, which actually tests lighting angles quite a bit when shooting in a white studio, because a slight carelessness will absorb the reflections of studio lights or even ambient clutter. To highlight the texture of the patent leather, I had the photographer use a side-backlight as the main light, filling in the face and chest area from the front with a large softbox. This preserves the glossiness of the clothes while preventing the image from looking too flat. The rim light formed by highlights hitting the black patent leather outlines the body's contours wonderfully.

The bunny ears on the head and the ruffed scrunchie are one of the highlights of the entire styling. The red-and-white zigzag decoration on the edge of the scrunchie was cut and fixed separately; to ensure it doesn't deform when posing, a stiff interlining was added inside. The black-and-blue gradient short hair was trimmed quite choppy, which fits right in to frame the cheeks. The eye makeup used a large-area blending of red-toned eyeshadow with upturned outer corners, paired with a dark red lip gloss, aiming to present the character's cold, glamorous, yet slightly dangerous shark girl trait. The white pointed collar and red bow tie on the neck formed a strong color contrast, breaking the monotony of the all-black look.

The zipper design on the side of the bodysuit and the lace edging on the chest added detailed layers, while the black leather arm ring on the upper arm and the white cuffs on the wrists also echoed the style of the original setting. The lower body was paired with sheer black stockings printed with black diamond patterns, which visually flatter the leg shape wonderfully, matching a slightly forward-leaning and tiptoe posture to make the leg lines look more slender. The most energy-consuming part this time was actually the huge tail behind me. To achieve a full volumetric sense, it was filled with a large amount of cotton, and white graffiti text was printed on the outside. The weight of the tail is not small; it needs to be fixed to the waist with an invisible belt when worn, which required me to constantly pay attention to core waist and abdomen strength during photoshoots, slightly leaning my body forward to balance the backward-dragging feeling caused by the tail.

The pose of raising both hands above the head to make a V-sign can showcase playfulness while conveniently stretching the lines of the upper body. The minimalist background of the white studio makes this all-black outfit extremely eye-catching; during post-processing, only a slight adjustment of the contrast between light and dark was needed to fully highlight the texture of the patent leather and the fluffy feel of the tail. Although the shooting process involved a lot of sweating due to the non-breathable clothing material, the moment I saw the final photos, I felt all the hard work of adjusting poses and polishing details was totally worth it. This kind of textured collision with a bit of contrast is truly very suitable for close-up expressions against a clean background.
