[Saigyouji Yuyuko cosplay] Exquisite Restoration Under Cherry Blossoms in Touhou Project

Yesterday, I shot this Saigyouji Yuyuko cosplay in a Dreamy cherry blossom garden. Since the cherry blossoms in the venue were in full bloom, combined with the character's original setting, it perfectly matched the atmosphere I wanted to convey.

Let me talk about the details prepared this time. The wig is pink, trimmed with slight waves, and volumized at the back of the head. For makeup, I used light pink eyeshadow as a base, paired with reddish eyeliner and pink lipstick to restore Yuyuko's facial expression—'aloof yet carrying a touch of innocence.' For the headpiece, I chose a white ruffled wide-brimmed hat with pink satin ribbons, adorned with the classic 'red swirl pattern' from the original design, which is an iconic element that must be accurately restored.

Let's focus on this dress. It is a light blue and white dress in Lolita fashion, featuring a fabric with subtle luster. The dress uses a classic Lolita cut, with highly complex ruffles and pleats running from the neckline down to the skirt hem. Multiple layers of white lace are stacked at the neckline, encircled by a pearl necklace with lovely drape. Decorations on the dress are exquisite: blue teardrop pendants hang from the cuffs and skirt body, accented by blue-and-white thin chains that emit a faint, pleasant clinking sound as I move.

For props, I held a purple folding fan. The ribs are black, the leaves are purplish-red, and the pattern consists of geometry and traditional motifs constructed from white linework. Although it was quite windy on the day of the shoot, holding it to complement poses—such as half-covering my face or gently fanning out—added immense character charm. The photographer was particularly skilled at capturing light and shadow; raw lighting was soft without harsh contrasts, bringing out fabric textures wonderfully.

Weather on the shooting day was indeed suitable for an outing, and the Dreamy cherry blossom garden had quite a few visitors. To avoid crowds and capture clean shots, we arrived at the chosen spot very early in the morning. We selected a cherry blossom tree of ideal height with gracefully staggered branches. The photographer tried several angles beneath that tree. Ultimately, the light in the final photos turned out exceptionally soft, with cherry blossom petals interweaving in front of and behind me, presenting a serene, hazy beauty.

Because the dress was long with a voluminous skirt hem, moving across dirt paths and grassy fields in the garden required care. Beyond making movement range as broad as possible, I had to constantly lift the skirt hem to prevent dirt stains or fabric snags. But the final visual effect turned out great: pink cherry blossoms paired with the dress's blue and white produced a bright, clean look.

During close-up shots, I deliberately adjusted the folding fan's positioning to create negative space around my hands, allowing the composition to focus on facial expression and features. Holding a fan with this styling combining traditional elements and Lolita fashion added an even richer sense of storytelling.

Overall, this outdoor shoot went quite smoothly. Makeup, styling, finding camera angles, capturing light—every step coordinated seamlessly. Though outdoor filming was exhausting from morning to afternoon, seeing desired effects appear in the viewfinder made every effort feel worthwhile in Anime cosplay.

Returning home, I exported the images and reviewed them—the raw quality was already remarkably high, requiring only minor post-adjustments for color balance. I hope this share allows friends who love this character to feel how this outfit looks under natural daylight. Characters in the Touhou Project series indeed possess unique charm, and as long as one restores them with heart, beautiful moments will always be captured.
