The preparation for this Anchorage cosplay bridal look took much longer than expected. From the trimming layers of the wig to the adjustments of the costume's patterning, I tried three times back and forth before finding the state that best fit the character. Because the character's setting itself leans toward being soft, cute, and dependent, simply putting on a ready-made white wedding dress cannot restore her aura in the game. In terms of fabric selection, I placed special emphasis on a lightweight, breathable feel and the natural drape of the folds.
The core of this styling lies in the visual unity of a "lightweight feel" and "pure white." The outfit utilizes an off-the-shoulder ruffled design made of multi-layered tulle and chiffon patchwork, which, paired with the white fabric flowers at the neckline and the small flower hair accessories on the head, perfectly counters the heavy feeling that white wedding dresses usually bring. The combination of white tights and matching bow high heels is also to maintain the integrity of the overall pure white tone. My hand gestures mainly referenced the slightly shy cuteness in her personality, so I chose two freeze-frames in the photos: resting my chin on my hand and slightly lifting my arm. For accessories, I tried to eliminate overly sharp or complex metallic reflections, selecting fabric and lace materials instead to enhance the sense of gentleness.
In terms of makeup, the focus was on lowering the overall brightness. The eyeshadow part used a soft pink-toned blending to simulate the facial flushing when slightly tipsy or emotional. The lip color was chosen to be quite natural without over-emphasizing the lip lines, which better fits her "soft" personality. To coordinate with the costume, the lines of the eye makeup were softened, and natural-style eyelashes were selected to avoid creating too many sharp visual focal points on the face, allowing the overall makeup to blend seamlessly with the pure white dress.
On the day of the shoot, the lighting on set mainly relied on the softboxes in the studio and the diffuse reflection of the tulle on top. The resulting high-key lighting effect is an expression I personally like very much. Although a power outlet can be seen in the background of the frame, the overall overlapping of white gauze curtains gives the frame a nice sense of layering. In the composition, a chair with a golden frame was specially chosen as a visual anchor to contrast with the white attire. The aperture and shutter parameters of every photo were deliberately adjusted to the edge of slight overexposure to enhance this dreamy, surreal sense of space for this white wedding dress photography session.
Anchorage herself is a character who naturally invokes a desire to protect. When putting on this wedding dress, I unconsciously wanted to convey that softness and dependency through the lens. The photographer and I communicated many details regarding the body's center of gravity and eye direction during the shoot, trying our best to keep the image from looking stiff while preserving the unique tension of the anime style. Posing with a slight side tilt of the body, coupled with the floating lightweight skirt hem, I hoped to present a soft state of being gently embraced.
This milestone of the Azur Lane 9th Anniversary is highly meaningful, making a bridal cosplay style perfect for commemoration. Upon completing this set of photos, I felt that all the hard work and repeated deliberations during that period were entirely worth it. Although studio shooting is restricted by many environmental factors and props, through the arrangement of lights and angle adjustments, the final images achieved the expected results in texture. I hope the presented effect can recreate a bit of everyone's imagination of this character.
