[Lumine Cosplay] Genshin Impact: Captured Moments at a Winter Coastal Shrine

Standing by the sea in this outfit as the wind whipped through my hair strands and blonde locks, the question \"what lies beyond the ocean?\" truly popped into my head. Taking advantage of the teaser phase before our official shoot, I scouted the location in advance and completed a set of preview shots.

Let's talk about this Kimono photoshoot outfit. What caught my eye at first glance was the gradient coloration—transitioning gently from a fresh light aqua blue down to a rich, bright orange at the hem, much like the glistening sea under a sunset or burning autumn foliage. Large white chrysanthemum and flying bird prints adorn the skirt panels, giving a brightness and contrast that looks exceptionally striking on camera. A winter outfit essential is the thick pure-white plush shawl around the collar, which not only feels visually soft and warm, but also beautifully frames the neck and shoulder lines. The headpiece features a blue-and-white flower design paired with light golden hair, imparting a dreamlike quality. On my feet were traditional white tabi socks and geta sandals adorned with colorful patterns; walking on sand versus stone pathways offered entirely different tactile experiences—the geta clacked crisply on stone steps, while sinking directly into soft sand on the beach, leaving deep footprints.

We began with shots along the beach. The temperature was extremely low, and the sea breeze carried a chilling bite, but the white foam rolled up by waves alongside distant continuous mountains dusted with remaining snow formed a flawless winter scene in my mind. Scattered tiny shell fragments dotted the sand, creating a slight tickle underfoot. Dressing in traditional kimono across such a vast natural setting for the first time required balancing against gusts that blew my outfit messy while maintaining a light yet resolute posture.

Afterward, we moved to the local vermilion shrine. The color contrast here was breathtaking—vermilion torii gates and wooden shrine halls created a bold warm-versus-cool contrast against the light blue and orange outfit. I take pride in several photos taken alongside the massive shimenawa sacred rope in front of the shrine, where the rough texture of the rope created a magical counterpoint to the softness of the clothing. Beside it stood a stone fox statue wearing a red apron around its neck, quietly gazing toward the front of the shrine and evoking a serene sense of guardianship. Being winter, un-melted snow patches lingered beside stone steps and ground surfaces, serving as a natural backdrop tailored specifically for our shoot.

The shooting process was far from easy; to capture the best light before sunset, we were busy from early morning. Wearing a kimono inherently involves intricate steps, wrapping layer upon layer tightly. While the plush shawl looked gorgeous, frequent running and posing meant it needed constant readjusting. For makeup, to align with Lumine's character traits from Genshin Impact, I elongated the eyeliner and wore light-colored contact lenses, aiming to present a determined yet gentle visual impression before the camera.

This location is actually a fantastic spot for winter travel and photography, offering both natural coastal scenery and rich traditional cultural ambiance. Although what we completed here is merely a teaser preview, it proved immensely helpful for grasping the overall shooting rhythm and lighting. In truth, as a cosplayer, the greatest joy often lies in wearing carefully prepared garments, traveling to real-world locations that best fit the character, and experiencing a harmonious blend between the character and the local environment. Beyond the sea might lie another world, but this serene view right before my eyes is more than enough to immerse oneself in completely.

The temperature has dropped significantly these past few days; despite wearing thick layers, the perceived temperature by the seaside and shrine remained quite low. Yet seeing those sharply vivid colors inside the viewfinder made me feel that every bit of cold was well worth it. I hope everyone can leave their own cherished winter memories in places they love.
