[Formidable cosplay] Azur Lane Chengdu Anime Convention event photo delivery

The event photo delivery from the Chengdu CD30 anime convention is now sorted out and released. This Azur Lane Formidable cosplay costume has far more details than imagined. During the preliminary preparation, just sorting out the lace and ruffles on the clothes took a lot of time. After putting on the full set, I repeatedly checked in front of the mirror to adjust the position of the headpiece and wig. The black-and-white color scheme combined with a large amount of lace patching gives this outfit an inherent sense of exquisite yet heavy texture.

White stockings paired with black glossy Mary Jane shoes were chosen, and the lace anklet at the ankle serves as an extra small embellishment. That front-standing photo in picture four was intended to show the fluffiness of the skirt hem and the cutout design at the chest. Making gestures with both hands was an attempt to make the picture less rigid. When shooting in a standing posture, to support the multi-layered skirt hem, a petticoat was worn underneath, and walking around definitely required paying more attention to the feet for fear of stepping on the lace edges.

The environment at the convention site was a challenge for shooting. The dense lighting at the top of the pavilion, combined with the dark reflective floor, easily made the characters look flat in the picture. The photographer used a large aperture to blur the background, turning the crowd and the ceiling lights of the pavilion into bokeh spots, so that the main character stood out more. I quite like this kind of processing method that retains the on-site light and shadow atmosphere, as it instantly lets people see that it's a convention photo.

Returning to this cosplay costume, although it is a variant of the maid style, after pairing it with white stockings and Mary Jane shoes, the overall style leans toward a doll-like feel. The makeup also intentionally emphasized the contour of the eye makeup, paired with red contact lenses and a light-colored wig, trying to make the face fit this 2D visual effect as much as possible. The red bow tie on the chest and the accessories on the waist played a brightening role in the black-and-white main color scheme.

When shooting this group of pictures, it was necessary to go back and forth in the pavilion to find the right angle. To maintain the smoothness of the clothing, every time I sat down and stood up, I carefully arranged the skirt hem. Although wearing high heels and complex clothing to walk around the pavilion consumes a lot of physical energy, seeing that all the details are clearly recorded in the final photos makes the process feel quite interesting. This set of pictures can be considered one of the more satisfying groups in my event photo delivery, and I also hope to provide a styling reference for friends who like Azur Lane's Formidable. Although the shooting environment of the convention is noisy, it is precisely this lively atmosphere that gives the convention photos a different vitality.
