[Ellen Joe cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero's shark instructor, the cool and edgy daily life of bass and black tights

This time I am sharing a set of Ellen Joe cosplay photos. The focus is on recreating the vibe of an academic rock girl, with the entire shoot revolving around the classic color palette of black, white, and red. For the clothing, a basic white shirt with a slightly open collar is paired with a metallic black choker necklace. The bottom is a dark blue pleated skirt with thin white edges, complemented by black tights and loafers, perfectly capturing the character's lazy, cool, and edgy essence.

Makeup and hair are core to recreating the character. I specifically chose red colored contact lenses, applied red eyeshadow shading at the outer corners of the eyes, and paired it with the iconic red hair streaks in the black hair, instantly making the visual recognition pop.

Regarding props, the black-and-red gradient electric bass is the soul of the styling. The rugged black strap and the metallic accessories on the guitar body have a great texture. Although it was very heavy to carry, that weight actually added a sense of realism during the shoot. In terms of posture and expression, I tried to capture the character's casual, cold, yet slightly composed feeling as much as possible.

The shooting environment was chosen in two scenarios: outdoor and indoor. The first picture is on an open terrace with rolling mountains, lush trees, and blooming pink flower trees in the background. The soft evening light makes the overall atmosphere very vivid, with the breeze blowing through the hair, and the captured frame carries a sense of casualness. The second picture shifts indoors against clean white walls and gray floor tiles, focusing more on highlighting the visual effect of the outfit itself. Through the indoor lens, the lines of the dark pleated skirt and black tights are well displayed, and combined with the vertical composition of the bass, the overall styling looks sharper.

I made many attempts in pose design. The outdoor photos emphasize the feeling of naturally blending into the environment, while the indoor photos strengthen the musician's vibe through a slight leg-apart standing posture and hands crossed on the bass neck. Because the prop was quite heavy, adjusting positions and fingerings each time was exhausting, but the movements were repeatedly corrected for the sake of visual effects. The wig was also trimmed multiple times to make it fit the character's facial shape and layering better, and the color of the red hair tips was slightly adjusted in saturation so that they would have an obvious popping effect under different lighting conditions.

This styling actually tests the control of expressions greatly. The charm of Ellen Joe herself lies in that effortless coolness. Therefore, in front of the camera, I tried to relax my shoulders and neck, keeping my gaze level and calm. When shooting, I didn't need to make deliberate expressions; just standing there naturally holding the instrument captured that lazy vibe. This is also a bit of insight I gathered from this shoot—matching the expression can sometimes convey the soul of the character better than a complete wardrobe replication.

The two final photos presented retain a realistic texture without too much exaggerated retouching. From indoors to outdoors, from detail close-ups to the overall atmosphere, I hope those who see them can feel the youth and coolness belonging to the rock girl. Although carrying the bass and shooting all day was indeed exhausting, everything was worth it to present the best visual effect.
