From receiving the outfit to the final makeup look on stage, the process for this Fleurdelys styling was more challenging than expected. Since the prop itself made up a huge part of the workload, this blue crystal-textured giant blade required excellent core balance during the shoot, even though it was lightweight-treated for portability, due to its complex branch-like handle and polyhedral blade structure. Especially for the posture in Figure 1, with one leg lifted and one arm holding the weapon high, I not only needed to control the sword's center of gravity but also engage my hips and knees to stabilize my body when the camera shutter snapped, otherwise the whole form would look shaky.

The overall color scheme of the outfit is the core of this styling. The black-and-white color blocking with metal chains on the upper body and the large area of royal blue translucent skirt hem on the lower body matched perfectly with the venue's black-white-gray background, making it highly suitable for a selective color preservation technique in post-processing. During editing, I discussed it with the photographer to strip away the environment's colors and leave only the character's own blue, white, and gold. This made the silhouettes of the elf ears and the thorny ice crown much sharper, which can be considered integrating a bit of convention photography innovation into traditional cosplay convention photos. The translucent blue skirt hem had excellent draping when capturing standing poses, but it was easy to trip over when moving around.

The wig color transitions from light gold to a light blue at the tips. This gradient color didn't easily show color distortion under the venue's overhead lights, and styling it was smoother than expected. For the makeup, to fit the word 'overwhelming presence,' I darkened the eyeliner and elongated the outer corners of the eyes, paired with ice-blue colored contacts. This way, when looking down naturally or staring straight ahead in front of the lens, the coldness in my eyes could be more easily captured by the camera. The transition handling of facial highlights and shadows was also intentionally coordinated with the angle of the light.

During the shoot, the transparent chunky-heeled sandals were a unique highlight of this outfit, with blue straps tied around the ankles. However, these shoes demand a lot from standing postures because the transparent surfaces easily reflect under the camera flash. If one doesn't pay attention to where the foot exerts force, the chance of revealing flaws increases. Therefore, in the three final photos, I chose three different actions: sitting with a raised leg, standing forward while holding the sword, and kneeling while holding the sword with both hands, aiming to fully exhibit the lines of the clothing and various details of the equipment from all angles. Especially with the forefoot pressure point of the high heels on the relatively slippery floor of the venue, I had to consciously grip the soles with my toes for every movement.

With the high flow of people at the anime convention, finding a shooting angle wasn't easy. This time, the photographer used the pillars inside the venue as visual anchors, leaving enough negative space in the frame so that the trailing effect of the blue skirt hem could fully unfold. To prepare for these cosplay convention photos, I intentionally cleaned the dust and small debris on the ground beforehand to ensure a clean image quality when the skirt touched the floor, avoiding excessive post-editing fixes. Meanwhile, to avoid the crowds, we alternated between slightly low-angle and high-angle shots to handle the complex surroundings of the exhibition hall.

From preparation to the final pictures, this entire process was a real test of the styling's completion. It's not just over once you put on the clothes; you also need to consider the prop's position in the frame, whether the wig is messed up by the wind, and if the skirt falls naturally on the ground. Expressing the character's aloof side through physical relaxation was the main aspect I pondered during this shoot. Convention photos are often the most direct presentation of the convention experience, and these photos happened to preserve the clothing texture, action tension, and overall atmosphere relatively completely. The deepest impression this shoot left on me was finding the balance belonging to this styling between physical exhaustion and focus. Overall, every action freeze-frame of this styling required mobilizing the muscles of the entire body to cooperate with those large-volume props and designs, making the shooting process highly fulfilling as an ACG Cosplayer.
