[Reimu Hakurei Cosplay] The Shrine Maiden of Gensokyo Showing a Unique Cuteness from Touhou Project

This Touhou Project Reimu Hakurei Cosplay photoshoot was completed on Saturday during the Anime convention. Regarding the 'Please give me money' meme in the caption, it was actually an inside joke from a friend, so I simply went with it as the caption.

Before the shoot, I planned an exaggerated, dramatic styling. The giant orange bow on top of my head is very structured with internal support, and I used quite a few bobby pins to keep its shape and hold the hanging ribbons in place. The red-and-white twisted cord in the hair replaced the traditional shrine maiden ribbon, which turned out to be a great highlight. The outfit features a patterned orange-red gradient fabric trimmed with white lace, along with puffy sleeves and a voluminous skirt. There is also a yellow inner layer under the top. The silver chains and diamond-pattern details on the skirt create a beautiful dynamic effect when twirling. Wearing platform shoes on the concrete floor at the Anime convention venue was a bit tiring, but I stuck with them for the balance of the overall silhouette.

The prop in my hand is a long rod tipped with a fluffy pink, marshmallow-like ornament. The first photo captured a full-body dynamic shot, either spinning or gently lifting the skirt hem so that the voluminous skirt flared out naturally. The second photo is the close-up you see: the photographer used a wide aperture to blur the foreground prop into a soft pink bokeh, creating a strong sense of depth. I really love this composition because it subtly obscures part of the body while emphasizing the face and hair accessories.

For makeup, I wore purple contact lenses and blended reddish eyeliner with eyeshadow, choosing criss-cross false eyelashes to make my eyes look large and expressive. The brown wig had its bangs trimmed, with the side strands tailored specifically to frame the face.

The main goal of this shoot was to capture the intricate details of this ornate outfit, referencing high-fashion poses along the way. Cooler-toned ambient venue lights were chosen to contrast with the warm tones of the costume. The entire set did not undergo heavy post-processing, focusing instead on faithfully restoring the contrast between light and shadow on site. I am very satisfied with the color scheme and layered feel of this outfit. The whole session took over three hours, and everyone wrapped up the set in a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere.
