[Evernight Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail — Dark Gothic Transformation Record of the Moon Corona Team

This set of Evernight cosplay photos took quite a bit of time from preparation to actual filming. The layered black and blue-gray coat is sharply tailored, featuring an exaggerated white multi-layered stand-collar embellished with black button accents, as well as white lantern sleeves gathered at the cuffs and black gloves, creating clear visual layers. Silver metallic chains, metal buckles, and striking red gem decorations on the outfit, paired with a pop of vivid red fabric at the chest, add a touch of the character's gorgeous elegance to the dark gothic tone. Additionally, the light pink slightly wavy wig paired with silver leaf hair ornaments faithfully recreates the character's cold, aloof, yet slightly fragile temperament.

The core prop during the shoot was the closed black long-handled umbrella. The umbrella handle features a red-and-white patterned design with a long white ribbon tied to it. Holding the handle during the shoot helped stabilize my balance, and combined with a lazy posture, it perfectly matched the character's cool and mysterious vibe. To echo the texture and red-and-black color palette of the costume, the studio background was specially decorated with deep red draped curtains, a golden carved chair, and a large golden picture frame leaning beside it, creating a vintage indoor aesthetic.

What I'm particularly satisfied with is the addition of lush, deep red roses in the setting, clustered around the edges of the chair and scattered on the floor, which, together with the faint glow scattered from the crystal chandelier above, created a fantastic visual contrast and deep shadow effects in terms of light and shade. Pose adjustments required careful consideration; the grip strength on the umbrella in my right hand and the subtle lifting of my left hand needed to be balanced between relaxed and controlled to avoid looking stiff, allowing the shot to present a dramatic tension almost akin to an oil painting.

A dark background combined with large areas of red flowers can easily look cluttered on camera, so during the shoot we deliberately avoided overly saturated red and yellow light sources. Instead, we used cool-toned top light or side-top light to keep the character's face and costume details clear in the dark environment. The luster of the wig was another consideration; pink can easily blend into the background in dark scenes, so during post-processing we appropriately enhanced the highlights and shadows to ensure the hair outline popped out.

In this cosplay practice, I felt that the sense of theatricality and mystery carried by Evernight cannot rely solely on costumes and props, but also needs to be built through the overall environment and mood. Although the messy spread of red roses and the grand chair in the background broke the traditional neat composition, this decadent beauty actually enhanced the narrative quality of the photos. It allowed the entire set to transcend a surface-level costume display and truly convey the character's slightly broken and profound aura. Although it took a lot of effort to coordinate the outfit, hair, and props, seeing the dark and gorgeous effect in the final photos made all the prior preparation feel completely worthwhile.
