Taking advantage of the weather not getting completely cool yet, I quickly posted this set of belated summer fragments. This time I'm cosplaying Sunohara Shun from Blue Archive, specifically what everyone often calls the Small Shun form. To match this summer-filled vibe, I specially chose a small stream with mountains and water for the outdoor shoot.
The most important thing for an outdoor shoot is how well the environment fits. The water in this shoal is very clear, and the rocks are big and steady enough, which was just right for placing props and sitting down to rest. This light green one-piece swimsuit has a very high compatibility with the character, looking refreshing without appearing too heavy. The black cat-ear headband on the head and the purple geometric bow hairpiece are the soul of the entire styling; once worn, the character's recognizability immediately pops out.
In terms of makeup, to restore the character's youthful look and 2D anime attributes, I deliberately deepened the blush, and the eye makeup part also used reddish color tones to increase the sense of innocence. The wig was trimmed for a long time; the sideburns on both sides had to fit snugly, and the twin-tail styling was adjusted several times to ensure it wouldn't look too messy when walking and playing in the water outdoors.
The shooting process was actually very relaxed and enjoyable. Those photos of eating watermelon were actually me genuinely quenching my thirst while the photographer candidly captured it. Sitting by the water kicking water, holding a swim ring and striking poses—all these flowed naturally with the state. Shooting in the stream requires paying special attention to safety; places with lots of moss are very slippery, so every time I moved positions, I had to ask the assistant to make sure my footing was firm first. When water splashes up, the candidly captured moments often have the most dynamic beauty.
I also really like the lighting in this photo set. Natural light filtered through the leaves onto the water surface, shimmering with ripples. Post-processing slightly adjusted the color temperature, making the overall picture lean towards a fresh and bright Japanese style tone. Although summer has already passed, looking at these photos, I can still feel that icy-cool and cozy vibe from back then.
