This time shooting Nekozuka Hibiki's cheerleader styling from Blue Archive, the preparation process was much more meticulous than imagined. To make the halo on top of the head present a floating effect, I used an extremely thin acrylic rod fixed to the inside of the double hair buns, requiring constant adjustment of head angles during the shoot to hide the support by forced perspective. The wig was specially heat-styled with high-temperature fibers, and the blue hair ornaments were also chosen with reflective materials, giving it great texture under the sunlight. In terms of clothing, this blue-and-white color-blocked cropped halter top and pleated skirt heavily test the silhouette tailoring; before the shoot, I carefully ironed the skirt pleats to ensure the edges were sharp and clean. The bell on the chest and the plush tail on the skirt waistband were both double-secured with hidden snaps and pins so they wouldn't easily fall off when running or changing poses, while retaining the fluffy dynamic feel of the tail. In makeup, to get closer to the 2D anime texture, blue-green circle lenses were worn, eyeshadow used a light base layered with a bit of fine shimmer, focusing on the lower eyelid extension and false eyelashes. The base makeup chose a semi-matte, high-coverage foundation; it didn't dull after shooting all afternoon under outdoor sunlight, blending wonderfully with the natural ambient light instead. The shooting location was chosen as a city street with a sense of depth, mainly to highlight the modern architectural lines of the background, fitting the atmosphere of Millennium Science School. Utilizing the natural light around 3 to 4 PM, the backlight set of photos with sitting on the ground in the second picture had a fantastic effect; sunlight happened to pass through the hair strands and the halo edge, forming a nice highlighted contour, which also credited the photographer's keen eye for angles. The single-knee kneeling pose in the third picture was mainly to showcase the vitality during cheerleader cheering, where the yellow pom-poms and blue-and-white skirt formed a sharp color contrast, and snapping required the arms to maintain muscle tension so the action looked powerful without being too stiff. Shooting such sports-oriented themes requires good body center-of-gravity control and gaze guidance; for instance, the forward-leaning posture in the first picture demands pulling in the abdomen and straightening the back while maintaining expression management, which actually tests waist and core strength quite a bit. Managing pom-poms during outdoor shooting was also quite troublesome since the paper tassels flew easily, requiring constant tidying of scattered paper scraps. Since this costume features a midriff-baring and short skirt design, it has relatively high demands on body elongation; during the shoot, I would intentionally keep my core tightened to better showcase the waistline and the slim feel of the legs. The hardest part during shooting was actually grasping the gaze; Hibiki usually looks relatively introverted, yet during cheerleader cheering she needs to express extreme enthusiasm, so I tried using different micro-expressions to balance this feeling—like the slightly anime-languid direct stare in the second picture and the focused cheering in the third picture, all to make the character more multi-dimensional. Outdoor shooting also requires avoiding passersby; sometimes waiting for a clean empty frame means standing by the roadside for a long time, which is standard for outdoor cosplay. Based on restoring the original character's energetic setup, this entire photo set showcases costume material details and action tension as much as possible.
