Preparing for this Blue Archive Arona Swimsuit Arona cosplay (Sailor swimsuit) photoshoot took about two weeks back and forth. The costume is a custom-made swimsuit featuring blue-and-white sailor suit elements, including a large white-bordered sailor collar, a white bow on the chest, white detached sleeves, and a matching choker; the material and fit hug the body well. The white ribbon wig styling on top of the head and the black sunglasses are visual highlights. For this shoot, a custom light blue wig was trimmed to achieve a specific curve in the bangs.
The shooting location was chosen by an outdoor swimming pool. The natural afternoon sunlight reflected beautifully on the water's surface, making the skin look more translucent. Since shooting required being in or by the water, for safety reasons, we initially framed shots on the wooden steps. The photographer adjusted camera angles to prevent excessive water reflections from interfering with facial lighting. To make water droplets look more natural on the skin, I had an assistant spray water on my arms and legs during the shoot to enhance authenticity. Later adjustments involved taking several seated shots, paying attention to leg positioning to flatter leg-length proportions as much as possible.
In terms of makeup, the eye makeup incorporated a blue, white, and black color palette paired with blue contact lenses. The foundation was kept clear and translucent to enhance the refined 2D aesthetic, while the lipstick was a glossy red, creating a lovely contrast with the cool-toned wig. During shooting, the placement of the swim ring and coordinating poses were also crucial; sitting on the swim ring required controlling my center of gravity, maintaining balance while keeping my facial expression relaxed.
In post-processing for the Cosplay photography, the overall tone was adjusted to make the blue more luminous and skin fairer, with blurred edges to emphasize the subject. The four selected photos include seated, half-kneeling, and side-seated poses, displaying costume details across different postures. Although it was my first time trying this look, the overall shooting rhythm was very smooth; the blue sky and water surface complemented this blue-and-white outfit wonderfully. Personally, I am most satisfied with the last side-seated photo—the pose was comfortable, rendering slender proportions while showcasing the garment's clean lines and skin texture.
