This time I cosplayed the bunny girl version of Hatsune Miku, which was also a bit of a small challenge for myself. The texture of the glossy black faux-leather bodysuit heavily relies on lighting and angles. The diffuse reflection in the venue's hallway perfectly outlined the sheen of the outfit, without any overexposure or crushed blacks. For the twin-tail wig, I used a teal-tinted blue-green, creating a cool visual contrast with the black and white palette. Personally, I really love this refreshing yet slightly cool effect.
During the shoot, we deliberately looked for a corridor with a lot of depth, utilizing perspective to give the frame a sense of extension. Meanwhile, I was positioned slightly to the left of the center, leaving space on the right so the composition wouldn't look too crowded visually. The one-legged standing pose in the first photo actually required quite a bit of core strength. Fortunately, the heels were stable, and paired with the fishnets and white cuffs, the overall lines flowed very smoothly. In the second photo, I playfully held the tip of my hair for a little interaction, giving the bunny ears and the bowtie a stronger presence.
There are quite a few small details in this outfit, such as the white collar and black bowtie at the neckline, and the fluffy white bunny tail on the back—all classic bunny girl elements. Before shooting, I used foundation to unify the skin tone across my arms and neck while keeping the wig's hairline looking natural, ensuring it wouldn't have that stiff 'mannequin look' under the lights.
Even though time is limited for convention photos taken on-site, the photographer was excellent at catching expressions and dynamics. We didn't intentionally pose in complicated ways; instead, these natural stances or small movements fit Hatsune Miku's fresh and vibrant aura much better. Through this set of photos, I hope to showcase Hatsune Miku's versatility across different styles. The charm of cosplay lies in your ability to interpret the diverse possibilities of a 2D character in reality. This attempt was a great exercise for me; everything from the makeup and styling to the posing details was repeatedly adjusted, and the final photos captured the light, shadow, and emotion perfectly. Every shoot deepens my understanding of the character and breaks through my own boundaries of expression.
