This time, I'm bringing you a magical little chef look for this Escoffier cosplay. In Genshin Impact, Escoffier is set as an elegant game character who loves desserts, and I wanted to recreate that sweet temperament as much as possible through the costume, makeup, and hair. The tailoring of the outfit is very unique: the upper body is a white vest with metal buckles, while the lower body features a puffy skirt with black and gold trim. The most eye-catching parts are the red side bows and lace-up design, which create rich visual layers. For the wig, I chose long, straight golden-yellow hair paired with a chef's hat on top. Handling that iconic ahoge (cowlick) took some thought to ensure the styling would hold up once worn. The colored contact lenses are a clear lake blue, which, combined with the eye makeup, elongates the eye shape to hopefully capture the essence of the character. The combination of the wig and makeup also adds a friendly, approachable atmosphere. This shoot took place in a studio, using a simple black background and reflectors to make the subject stand out. Looking at the studio strobes and cables in the photos, behind every final image is actually a process of breaking in light and shadow. The white lighting makes the character's skin tone look more natural, and it wonderfully highlights the gold threads and holographic shimmer on the clothing. However, when taking mirror selfies with the camera, it did take some time to find the right angles—needing both a half-body close-up for details and a full-body shot to see the overall pairing of the skirt and shoes. The shoes are black-and-white color-blocked chunky heel ankle boots, paired with white fishnet stockings on the legs, giving the overall visual center of gravity a solid feel. While preparing this outfit, I referenced the character's in-game movements, wanting to capture her confident yet slightly playful vibe. Although the surrounding environment is a bit cluttered, this is just part of the authentic daily routine of studio and location shooting. Lighting arrangement and angle selection are truly vital for showcasing the texture of this apparel. Every time I changed poses, I needed to readjust my stance, hoping to present a satisfying final result. Recording these daily snippets of portraying the character through this set of photos makes me feel the character's vividness even more the moment I put it on for this Genshin Impact cosplay.
