Today, I'm heading out to the Touhou Project collaboration cafe, dressed up in Reimu Hakurei Cosplay. For an in-person fan gathering like this, the Anime-style makeup and styling certainly couldn't be treated lightly.
First, the eye makeup: to honor the character's design, I selected high-pigment light green contact lenses with a moderate graphic diameter that delivers an unmistakable brightening effect. For the lids, I laid down a neutral base and layered soft washes of pink and coral to infuse youthful warmth. To ensure the eyes popped on camera, I applied dense fluttery falsies with a subtle winged flick at the outer corners, paired with a soft downward puppy-liner curve to noticeably enlarge the ocular frame. Rather than overlining the aegyosal, a gentle shimmer highlighter kept the lower lids fresh and natural. Blush was swept across the high apples of the cheeks to elevate skin radiance, while a peachy-pink lip tint complemented the ginger-yellow bow tie at the neckline. For base makeup, I chose a breathable, translucent liquid foundation given the prolonged wear, setting it thoroughly with loose powder—concentrated across the oily T-zone—to keep the finish pristine and melt-proof all day.
The wig was pre-trimmed and styled in advance. The front fringe was given airy volume, because crowning the head with an oversized blue bow would look unbalanced if the roots lay flat against the scalp. The face-framing tendrils were kept slightly longer to streamline the facial silhouette. Tending to the wig is always the most time-consuming stage in cosplay prep, especially for designs carrying heavy structural headpieces where rock-solid stability is essential. A handy tip for contact lenses: always pop them in prior to cosmetic application, ensuring ample time to settle or swap if any discomfort arises.
The wardrobe is brimming with fine craftsmanship. The collar features white ruffled lace trimmed with scalloped blue embroidery, cinched by a mustard-yellow fabric bow tie at the neck. The dress itself is tailored from rich blue jacquard cloth embossed with delicate damask textures, offset by white lace inlays across the shoulders. Putting it on requires patience, especially securing the back fastening closures to achieve a clean, wrinkle-free drape.
Heading to the Touhou Project collaboration cafe is largely about soaking in that authentic offline camaraderie. We usually bond through scrolling barrage comments or chatting about lore in messaging groups, so engaging face-to-face with kindred spirits is something I eagerly anticipate.
