On 2025-02-04, styled as Konuri Maki from Blue Archive, we headed to a waterside grassy slope to genuinely experience an outdoor camping cosplay photoshoot. Compared to indoor studio shoots, the outdoor lighting and natural setting brought an entirely different dimension of vitality to this cosplay. The main focus of preparation was restoring the character's outdoor outfit and everyday demeanor: the white knit beanie fitted with her iconic orange frames, paired with a highly saturated red hair cosplay wig that caught the sunlight with a soft, natural luster. For the upper body, I wore a windproof off-white casual windbreaker over a red T-shirt printed with a yellow doodle motif; the red-and-white palette popped vividly against the outdoor greenery, full of energetic charm. The lower half combined classic denim blue shorts with a black tights outfit, finished off with chunky outdoor functional boots. This ensemble ensured ease of movement while maintaining the character's adorable, spunky flair.
To create an authentic camping ambiance, we specially selected a yellow outdoor backpack, folding chairs, and an off-white camping wagon as our primary props. The yellow backpack and off-white wagon color-blocked beautifully with my red hair and beige jacket. In the first set of photos, I leaned against a thick tree trunk. The slanted afternoon sunlight beamed down from above, and the slightly dazzling light prompted me to instinctively shield my eyes with my hand—a natural moment captured precisely by the photographer. Another shot holding up the orange-rimmed glasses aimed to express a playful interactive vibe, where slightly closed eyes and a tilted-up head nicely matched the character's relaxed, uninhibited personality.
The second set transitioned to the folding camp chair setup, which turned out to be one of my favorite photogenic segments. Initially, I tried raising both hands to stretch, completely letting go and leaning back against the chair with eyes closed to feel the gentle breeze. This entirely unguarded posture, backed by the support of the folding chair, radiated cozy contentment after a long day. The shot on the right, touching an ear with one hand, added another touch of languor and gentleness; the breeze ruffling my bangs actually deepened the narrative feel of the photo. The black tights outfit against the sunlight and meadow setting showcased a natural skin sheen, and with the support of chunky boots, the leg lines appeared both elongated and solid on camera.
The third set made clever use of the off-white camping wagon. Honestly, curling myself entirely inside the wagon for the first time felt novel and fun. Snuggled inside the wagon with legs naturally lifted and toes pointing up, the plush boot soles added great volume to the composition. The snug fit of the black tights below contrasted with the loose jacket above to create a visually flattering top-wide, bottom-slim balance. Resting my chin in both hands along the wagon's edge and looking straight into the lens created a close-up feel that amplified facial features and the clarity of my gaze. The small yellow bag placed beside my legs served both as decorative flair and as a natural element in the spatial composition.
Overall, this outdoor location shoot was exceptionally pleasant; though early spring, the afternoon sunshine was plenty warm. To maintain a natural, relaxed state in front of the lens, the photographer and I worked through many outtakes before finalizing this cohesive set of natural spliced shots. During the shoot, we had to be mindful not to let the wig snag on branches while continuously adjusting facial expressions during bursts to avoid squinting under the bright sun. I did my best to balance Konuri Maki's lively charm with the effortless relaxation of outdoor camping, hoping this real-world camping atmosphere captures her distinct easygoing cuteness.
