[Misaki cosplay] Summer Swimsuit and the Quiet Time of Blue Archive - Image 1

This set of photos featuring Misaki cosplay's swimsuit look was shot in the indoor leisure area. The sorted-out finished photos count as a relatively satisfying attempt recently. To match the character's temperament in Blue Archive, we made quite a lot of preparations for the styling beforehand. The hairstyle was specially made into those iconic black double buns paired with straight bangs, which not only makes it convenient to showcase a three-dimensional side profile in front of the lens but also maximally preserves the unique charm the character should have.

In terms of makeup, to highlight that slightly mysterious and cool feel, the eye makeup adopted a purplish-red blending, paired with relatively delicate eyeliner to give the gaze a more focused effect. This kind of layered makeup won't look flat even under strong light illumination, and it can maintain excellent color saturation under soft indoor lighting as well.

The costume chosen is a deep blue one-piece swimsuit with white lines outlining the edges, making the color combination clean and sharp without appearing overly complex. During the shoot, to display the character's composure, I tried my best to keep my body posture naturally relaxed; for the sitting pose, one leg was slightly bent while the other extended along the lounge chair, which visually elongates the overall body proportions. For hand movements, several options were attempted, and we finally settled on the right hand gently pinching the shoulder strap and the left hand resting naturally by the leg, which avoids looking stiff and fits the character's cool, elegant personality and temperament. The thin bracelet on the wrist serves as a perfect minor accent, bringing subtle luster to the dark-toned costume.

To shoot the ideal texture, a lot of time was spent on lighting adjustments that day. The original ambient light indoors was quite scattered, so we chose a softbox as the main light source, focusing on highlighting the skin's translucency and using sidelight to outline the contours of the body and clothing. The black rattan lounge chair provided an excellent low-brightness background, forming a very comfortable light-dark contrast and color layering against the fair skin tone and dark swimsuit.

During the shooting process, the hardest part to grasp was probably the expression in the eyes. It was necessary to find that confident, arrogant feel without being overly fierce, seeking a subtle balance between laziness and sharpness. I would stare at the monitor to repeatedly adjust during shooting breaks. Looking at the final finished photos, I found that a few shots with a slight high-angle downward view or eye-level perspective captured the demeanor quite well, managing to convey a touch or two of the character's essence. Sitting barefoot on the lounge chair made the whole person naturally relaxed, which heavily aided in expressing this summer atmosphere.

Besides regular compositions, this shoot also attempted to utilize the height difference and tilt angle of the lounge chair to break the monotony of eye-level shots. During post-processing, more focus was placed on the authentic restoration of colors and the enhancement of translucency, minimizing unnecessary distortion processing. In my opinion, cosplay is not just about putting on a costume, but about making the character's soul materialize at that very instant. Although the entire process required immense patience, every time I look back at the photos and see that refreshing, confident visual effect, I feel that all the previous investments in makeup, styling, and camera presence were completely worth it. This interpretation of the swimsuit look was a highly fulfilling and harvest-packed shooting experience.
