This set of Cosplay event photos for Azure Court was shot in the public areas of the convention venue. The overall outfit features a blue-and-white palette; to recreate the airy lightness of the original illustration, we selected ample semi-sheer tulle and lace. The top utilizes a high-collar faux two-piece design, with an outer layer of white tulle over a light blue corset bodice, bridged by silver chains and pearl buttons. The most meticulous element was the 3D ribbon bow at the waist; to keep it crisp and structured on camera, I lined the inside with three layers of stiff buckram in this Fu Hua cosplay from Honkai Impact 3rd.
The wig was an icy blue, trimmed with dimensional layers, with the bangs across the forehead styled with a gentle curl. Because the venue lighting was rather flat, I intentionally wore high-pigment blue contact lenses to make the blue of the eyes stand out. For makeup, the focus was on clean facial contours and jawline definition; eye makeup used a low-saturation blend of light blue and silver-grey gradients, avoiding heavy glitter to prevent washed-out colors.
The white lace umbrella in my hand was a crucial prop prepared beforehand. Its cutout patterns were exquisite, but the ribs were very light, wobbling at the slightest breeze. To ensure aesthetic umbrella angles during shooting, I practiced holding the parasol with one hand while extending the other gracefully. The blue doves in the photos were added in post-production to evoke the original art's atmosphere of being surrounded by azure birds.
For the legwear styling, I opted for an asymmetrical design. One leg featured white tights adorned with blue line prints, while the other wore light blue thigh-high Stockings, paired with white block-heeled pumps. To enhance visual depth, pearl chains were added around the ankles. This asymmetrical Stockings coordination visually elongated the leg lines, becoming a major highlight of the look. Posing on tiptoes aligned perfectly with the skirt's slit, gracefully revealing the Stockings' top edge and contours.
Since we shot inside the venue, the afternoon foot traffic was quite heavy. Fortunately, the natural light filtering through the lobby's floor-to-ceiling windows was wonderfully luminous. We sought out relatively quiet corners and used a wide aperture to melt the background, keeping the subject prominently focused. To capture the dynamic moments of the skirt and hair fluttering, the photographer took rapid bursts while I constantly turned and adjusted my poses.
Throughout the shoot, donning and adjusting this costume was genuinely time-consuming—especially smoothing out the skirt pleats and thigh garters each time after sitting down. Yet seeing the final results made all the prep work and venue hustle entirely worthwhile.
