The convention photos for CD30 are finally sorted out. I spent over half a month preparing for this Touhou fanon styling of Flandre Scarlet from Touhou Project. Every detail from head to toe was carefully handled; the entire outfit is layered with multi-tiered lace and translucent tulle, and the red-and-white color scheme is extremely eye-catching. The upper body features a red-based, white-trimmed waist-cinching design, and it took a lot of time to adjust the straps and bows on the chest to ensure the visual layering was distinct without looking bulky. The wing prop on the back, featuring colorful diamond-shaped crystals, took a tremendous amount of effort to polish and paint, and the reflective effect of the pendants looked gorgeous under the exhibition lighting.

I chose a bright golden curly wig. Before putting it on, the wig needed to be teased out bit by bit to create that fluffy yet slightly messy texture characteristic of the character. Red contact lenses and deliberately deepened red eyeshadow blending on the cheeks made the overall makeup look much closer to the image of a 2D character. In addition to the bright red bow on the hat, various small flowers were embellished, and that pair of red heart-shaped sunglasses was clipped right onto the brim of the hat, ready to be taken off and worn at any moment during photoshoots. To match the Lolita feel of the costume, semi-transparent lace sleeves were worn on the arms, platform cross sandals with white lace ankle rings were worn on the feet, and many colorful beaded bracelets were added—the details are truly abundant.

At the CD30 venue, the crowd was even larger than expected. Because the skirt hem is relatively short, to achieve a nice sitting posture, the photographer found several angles and finally laid out a white blanket on the ground to shoot. When sitting on the blanket, the teddy bear plushie and red apple were placed nearby, making the composition look exceptionally full. When standing up for full-body photos, the colorful pendants on the back swayed with movement, heavily testing the photographer's candid capture skills. Because the shoe soles are quite thick and there's a prop support frame behind the outfit, standing on the concrete floor for a long time was indeed a bit tiring, requiring the posture to be kept upright at all times. The red apple held in hand is simulated with a great texture, echoing the overall red-and-white color scheme.

The effect of this shoot turned out even better than expected. Whether it's the half-length close-ups or full-body displays, the intricate lace textures on the clothes and the layering of the props can be clearly seen. During the shoot, I specifically communicated with the photographer that I wanted to showcase the character's slightly playful yet elegant side, so for large-movement candid shots—such as holding up the skirt hem or supporting the hat with one hand—I tried my best to keep the body lines relaxed and stretched. Although the lighting at the convention site was quite complex, the facial light and shadow control in the finished photos is quite good, making the red-toned styling stand out even more when the background darkens. Overall, a lot of effort went into detail restoration for this styling, from material selection, sewing, to prop assembly, striving to fit that gorgeous and fantastical style in fanon. I will continue to explore more similar stylings in the future.
