[Furina Cosplay] The Cutest Girl in the Nation of Hydro

A lot of thought went into planning and executing this photo set. Because the Hydro Archon Furina's costume has numerous details, I selected the version from Miaowu Xiaopu; the fabric texture and hardware accessories are restored exceptionally well. The blue main palette paired with a white inner lining, along with golden wing motifs and gem embellishments, presents a dynamic contrast under the lens that feels both aristocratically gorgeous and playfully vibrant. My favorite piece is the top hat decorated with moon and stars, as well as the asymmetrical glove design—a white glove paired with a black leather glove—which creates rich visual layering and feels very convenient when handling props during the shoot.

For the shooting location, I specially chose a cool-toned blue and white studio photoshoot setup. The birdcage, white round table, black cross, and sheet music scattered across the floor in the background were all prepared to match the character's theatrical yet compassionate stage atmosphere. The black-and-white checkerboard floor tiles were a classic element; taking sitting poses on them extended the depth of field nicely, while accentuating the leg lines and footwear styling. The white slouched socks and blue bow platform shoes are items I particularly love—they're adorable while lengthening proportions, and paired with the teardrop gem leg ring on my thigh, the lower body styling became extremely eye-catching on camera. For several seated compositions, I intentionally picked angles that showcased the skirt drape and stocking textures.

As for makeup, I didn't opt for heavy stage makeup, choosing instead to keep the base makeup clear and clean, focusing on blue-gray eyeshadow smudging and light blue contact lenses. This made my gaze look clearer while echoing my aqua-blue long hair. The wig was styled softly with a subtle natural curve so it wouldn't look stiff, presenting a beautiful luster as I moved or turned my head.

Working with the photographer went seamlessly during the session, posing with various hand gestures such as holding up sheet music, touching the hat brim, resting a chin on hand, or propping up cheeks while looking into the camera. Because the costume's cuffs feature structured metallic pieces, arm movements appeared nicely extended, and coupled with shifting light and shadow, captured diverse moods—some pure and innocent, others carrying an air of elegant condescension. For those seated photos, crossing my legs naturally with ankles resting against the edge of the circular platform, alongside sheet music scattered by my feet, gave the image a storytelling quality without feeling overly forced.

Actually, the joy of cosplay lies not just in putting on the costume, but in drawing closer to the character's soul through scenery, gestures, and expressions. Although Furina's lore encompasses many complex emotions, in this set I wanted to highlight her lighthearted, nimble, and refined exterior. From donning the outfit and touching up makeup to adjusting poses, every final photo involved repeated fine-tuning. Whether in costume crispness, accessory security, or facial light softness, this photo set met my expectations. Without over-relying on post-processing special effects, we relied mostly on lighting and costume textures to convey a watery transparency, making the final shots look crisp and clean.

I deliberated a bit when selecting the cover photo because I loved several seated compositions, but ultimately chose this shot where my hands are folded and eyes look intently into the lens. It clearly presents the stocking and leg ring details of the lower body while maintaining overall elegance in posture. This is perhaps the most captivating aspect of cosplay—bringing a beloved character into reality through tangible attire and imagery.
