[Furina cosplay] Genshin Impact Custom Design Lolita Fashion Shoot Records

This time I did a Custom design cosplay of Furina from Genshin Impact. Although it's a free extension design based on the character, I still wanted to retain the noble and slightly dramatic temperament of her original design, while incorporating more sweet, Lolita fashion-oriented aesthetics in garment texture and tailoring. The theme color scheme of the entire outfit is set to blue and white; the cuffs of the white shirt feature labor-intensive smocking and ruching designs, giving every movement of the arm a natural ruffled curve. The neckline incorporates a large white bow as the visual center, balancing out the heaviness brought by the background wooden cabinets.

For the jacket, we selected a lightweight fabric in aqua blue, paired with multi-layered white lace skirt hems to balance the visual weight of the upper body with the fluffiness of the lower half. To create the dreamy, youthful feel of this Custom design cosplay, I specifically chose a wig with a pale white base and subtle blue highlights. The curled white-and-blue bangs across the forehead are the most lively element of the entire look. As for makeup, instead of an overly dignified original design look, I opted for a translucent base paired with soft pink blush. For the eyes, in addition to blue contact lenses that echo the clothing color scheme, I emphasized the lower lash line and mascara, giving the overall gaze a lazy yet slightly mysterious feel.

Speaking of highlights in this shoot, the blue-and-white striped prop in my hand must be mentioned. The original concept for this large-scale prop was an exaggerated interpretation incorporating elements inherent to the character. When I received the physical item, it was quite substantial and heavy, with the surface stripes made of dual-color jointed rigid materials. In the first photo, holding the prop with both hands was a test of posture: gripping too tightly looked stiff, while holding too loosely caused it to slip. Ultimately, I chose a gentle embracing pose, aligning the prop's direction with the skirt layers to form a visual triangular composition, which yielded very satisfying results in the final photo.

The footwear matching for the lower half was also meticulously deliberated. These light blue block-heeled leather shoes featuring delicate ribbon bows on the sides fit the style of this Lolita fashion dress exceptionally well. The white lace ankle socks cover the ankles while exposing the calves. In the final photo, paired with a cross-legged sitting pose, this combination visually elongates leg proportions, and the delicate texture of the white socks beautifully echoes the lace trims of the skirt, making the overall image richer in texture without feeling monotonous.

The shooting venue was selected indoors with vintage carved mirror frames and dark brown solid wood cabinets. Furnishings like these carry an inherent classical aesthetic, creating a striking contrast in color and era against the blue and white modern Lolita fashion dress. The mirror was used cleverly: in the second photo, the prop was placed on the cabinet, and its reflection in the mirror provided additional depth of field. In the first photo, the lens focused more on the character herself, with the dark-gold framed mirror directly behind serving like a picture frame that perfectly framed her pose.

We also challenged lighting angles during this shoot. Because the carved mirror frame behind caused significant reflection, a softbox was paired with side-backlighting. This allowed for soft rim light on the hair without creating glare spots on the mirror surface. Photographer @百年's experience in handling reflective indoor scenes proved crucial; the final photos feature natural light-and-shadow transitions, and the textures of the fabrics were preserved beautifully.

Though this is a Custom design cosplay Furina rather than a strict replica of the original game design, the advantage of a custom design lies in imparting a more diversified personal interpretation to the character. The dreamy blue and white color palette, Lolita fashion elements, slightly exaggerated prop, and deep vintage indoor scene gave this creative project its own distinct emotional expression. From costume planning to custom prop fabrication, and finally to studio shooting and color grading, this set underwent a lengthy production cycle. Being able to present such a comfortable and refined visual result in the end makes all the hard preparation work feel truly worthwhile.
