[Raiden Shogun cosplay] A Flash of Lightning, Cutting Through the Dream of an Instant

This collaborative package shoot was chosen at the Wangchuan Shrine in Daju Mansion, where the venue blending indoor and outdoor scenes gave the entire set of photos a strong narrative sense. For the first action on the stone steps holding the sword, in order to balance the flowing nature of the Cosplay outfit and the sharpness of the weapon, I deliberately lowered my center of gravity and pushed down on my heels to stabilize the base.

The purple, white, and gold color scheme of the costume is very layered, and the dragging sensation of the large sleeves and skirt hem really tests the maintenance of the styling during movement. I used clips beforehand to secure parts of the inner lining to prevent it from becoming too chaotic when turning. The wig uses the classic straight long hair with blunt bangs, and the luster of the hair strands looks very consistent with the character's temperament under the cool-toned lighting. For the makeup part, I increased the intensity of the contouring, and used a reddish lip color and earth-toned eyeshadow to neutralize the coldness brought by the dark hair color.

Regarding the prop experience, the center of gravity of the polearm and the tachi is biased towards the front, making it extremely easy to wobble when using one-handed power. For visual stability when the photo is produced, I did over an hour of grip practice before the shoot to let my body remember the power techniques. When switching between different movements, the rotation of the waist and the extension arc of the arm should form a straight line as much as possible to support the confident sense of coercion inherent in the character itself.

Turning to the indoor photos, the red dango and ceramic teapot on the wooden table prop are very good finishing touches. To capture a relaxed yet still majestic feeling, I relaxed my neck and shoulder muscles and leaned my entire upper body against the edge of the table. When shooting scenes that include slice-of-life props, your gaze cannot always be fixed on the lens, but rather needs to simulate a state of drinking tea or spacing out.

In this shoot, the combination of the long skirt and high-筒 boots is beautiful, but it also increased the limitations of bodily activity. Standing on the stairs, to avoid the long train being tripped on, I had to pre-estimate the landing position of the skirt hem with every step. Ultimately, repeatedly coordinating with the photographer's shutter rhythm, I got these few satisfying photos.

For a Coser, restoring a character requires not only resemblance in form, but even more, resemblance in spirit. The Raiden Shogun character possesses both the dignity of a deity and the ruthless decisiveness. When facing the lens, I deliberately focus my gaze a little bit above the lens, so that the eyes in the photo will have a sense of scrutiny looking down. The makeup and hair stylist also put careful thought into the treatment of the wig's hair ends, where a slight layered feeling gives it better dynamic performance when swung, rather than looking like a plastic block.

The setting of the Wangchuan Shrine is very thoughtful, with the stone steps featuring shimenawa and some decorative details having a very heavy shrine atmosphere. This kind of environment has a great sense of immersion, allowing me to quickly enter the state. I hope to convey through this set of photos the completely different auras of the character in battle and leisure states.

The on-site shooting of this collaborative scene, both in terms of early preparation and on-site expression, accumulated a lot of experience. Cooperating with Daju Mansion's lighting arrangement and art scenes, we can say that we completed a very sincere cooperation. After the shooting work ended, I also re-examined the shortcomings of this set of costume, makeup, and props, accumulating more experience for future outdoor location productions.
