This Kashin Koji costume is without doubt the most unreasonably designed outfit I've worn recently—bar none. From the second we unboxed it for a test fitting, my friend and I descended into mutual exhaustion. The white ruffled collar at the neck is intensely heavy, layered tier upon tier, while the glossy red patent-leather gloves are so tight that palms immediately break into a sweat. Most frustrating of all are the scarlet cords, crisscrossing straps, and tassels running all over the outfit; the slightest lapse in attention during dressing instantly creates a tangled mess. Reaching the back zipper and oversized bow on my own was completely out of the question, leaving me entirely dependent on my friend tugging and hoisting. Because the fit is so constricting, we were practically wrestling each other while suiting up; my friend teased that it felt like getting beaten up in a brawl, which truly sums up the experience.

The bottom half was equally tortuous. The white Fishnet stockings had to be pulled on with extreme care for fear of snagging them with fingernails, followed by slipping into knee-high black boots. The platform high heels themselves are already dauntingly tall, and then rows of red ribbons had to be wound tightly around the calves and soles—lacing just one shoe ate up so much time. Once fully geared up, I was basically trapped in a state where I hardly dared to move.

For the actual shoot, I put on the signature red, gold, and green mask to match the character's persona. While it looks undeniably striking, wearing it drastically constricts visual field down to narrow slits, forcing me to hunt for the camera lens blind. Paired with a weighty monochrome wig and straps tethered everywhere, striking any pose meant double-checking that the garments didn't lose structural form. Finding the right lighting angle was essential to capture the sharpness of the heterochromia eye contacts. We spent hours in the crimson studio space; set against an intricate web of black cords, heavy red ropes, and traditional screens in this Japanese-style set, I adopted various leaning postures, leg lifts, and dynamic poses. The white Fishnet stockings on the thighs paired with the chunky black platform boots visually elongated leg lines, while the glossy red gloves held a rich, tactile presence under the ambient red lights.

Grueling as the costume was—and stifling as the mask and wig felt—seeing the final frames made every bit of endurance worthwhile. The entire shoot was saved by having friends constantly helping adjust fabric drape and smooth wig strands; tackling this labyrinth of accessories alone would have been impossible. This entry in my Casual cosplay journey tested both physical stamina and patience, but it proved to be a genuinely unforgettable adventure.
