At the CP32 Hangzhou station of this comic convention, we successfully finished shooting this set of Kaigetsu cosplay works. The cosplayer featured is Qi Bao Jiu Shui (@柒饱就睡), and collaborating on this anime-style photo post was an absolute joy throughout the entire process.

When we first picked this character, we were discussing how to present the cold yet mysterious divine traits of Kaigetsu from Honor of Kings. To perfectly replicate this skin, a lot of effort was put into the makeup and styling. Her main icons are the crescent moon suspended in her hair and her deep, naturally lustrous blue-purple long hair. We specially styled the side braids, matching them with the crescent moon silver ornament on her forehead and the gem tassels hanging on both sides, striving to stay as close to the original design as possible in the details.

The blue colored contacts are the soul of the entire makeup look, paired with clean eye makeup to make her gaze look even more crystal clear. The pair of blue side hair ornaments that look like sea anemones is a striking embellishment in the overall styling, creating excellent color harmony and material contrast with the white tulle and blue dress. The clothing part utilizes semi-transparent lightweight tulle material sewn with tiny pearls, making it incredibly flowing when moving around. We also added silver metal rings on her arms, giving the character a touch of sharp combat edge amidst her ethereal aura.

Regarding the venue selection, instead of blindly pursuing complex indoor sets, we chose the glass railing of the outdoor corridor outside the exhibition hall. The natural light here is very soft, and the blue-gray metal railings and reflective glass happen to form a minimalist background that fits perfectly with the character's blue-and-white color scheme. During the shoot, I mainly captured two states. The first picture is a standing pose, utilizing her hand-reaching gesture to bring in stronger interactivity through the leading lines in front of the lens. The large aperture slightly blurred the crowd below in the background, making the subject instantly pop out. In the following two sets of sitting poses, I specially laid out a white plush carpet for her to kneel on. Paired with the long tulle gathered in her hands, the overall atmosphere shifted from the previous coldness to a gentler and softer tone.

Although the venue was highly crowded and the environment for cosplay photography was relatively noisy, we successfully avoided all chaotic elements through focal length selection and angle management. The temperament of Kaigetsu itself is quite hard to grasp—it needs a sense of aloofness, yet also a thread of emotional pulling. Through this combination of different movements and expressions, I hope to bring her proud and elegant image from the game to life. As a photographer, being able to turn the images in our minds into real photos together with the cosplayer is a highly fulfilling achievement. I hope this set of photos allows everyone to see a different side of Kaigetsu, and thanks again to the wonderful cosplayer Qi Bao Jiu Shui for her brilliant interpretation.
