I finally received this set of convention photos from Day 2 of Cpsp (Cpsp2024)! Even though it was captured on the fly by Kuno-sensei just as the expo was winding down, the results turned out wonderfully. This time, I cosplayed Flandre Scarlet (Flandre Scarlet cosplay / Flandre Scarlet Cosplay) from Touhou Project, wearing a red-and-white Lolita dress paired with lace socks and leather shoes. The fabric texture of the red dress is substantial with fine stitching, and the internal hoop support held a neat, round silhouette, which took careful styling to present a natural curvature. The tiered white lace trim is intricate, making dressing and undressing quite time-consuming. The large bow and ruffled bonnet atop my head also took considerable time to pin securely so they wouldn't tilt while walking.
The wing frame on my back was adorned with colorful rhomboid crystals, arranged carefully in the rainbow sequence of red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, and purple to gleam vibrantly under the lights. Holding the glowing handheld lantern, both were eye-catching props that took considerable effort to mount—especially in a bustling crowd where avoiding collisions was essential. Kuno-sensei was exceptionally kind and attentive throughout the shoot. Not only did they gift us cute convention freebies, but they also brought Yunnan Baiyao spray in case our feet grew sore from walking the convention all day, caring for my state throughout the entire session.
Shooting on the open plaza at dusk happened to catch the blue hour; the warm lantern light brought out the rich texture of the red dress and white lace, creating a striking contrast with the cool blue ambient backdrop. During the shoot, I explored various poses, such as standing with the lantern, kneeling on one knee while steadying the bonnet brim, as well as several half-body close-ups. Because the wings on my back were fairly heavy, all these postures required balancing with the wings' center of gravity to stay stable; otherwise, movements would look sluggish, losing the character's signature airy lightness. Fortunately, instead of stockings this time, pairing ruffled white socks with Mary Jane shoes kept the overall vibe adorable and breathable. For eye makeup, I applied red eyeshadow and eyeliner, blending the outer corners distinctly to emphasize the character's demeanor. My lips were coated with a vibrant red lipstick to harmonize visually with the dress and crimson bow.
Cpsp2024 was packed with attendees, and this crimson look turned plenty of heads on site, with many fellow fans recognizing the character. As it was the tail end of the day, everyone was somewhat fatigued, but the photographer remained remarkably patient in waiting for optimal lighting and composition. Capturing these crisp Event photo sharing shots served as a perfect conclusion to the day. Meeting such a dependable photographer at the convention's close to produce such textured photos was truly worthwhile. Seeing the preview shots sent by Kuno-sensei on the way home, I felt these captures recorded my best condition without any regrets.
