[Youmu Konpaku cosplay] Touhou Project: Gardener Maiden's Japanese Garden Photoshoot Log

This time, I'm bringing you an official cosplay shoot of Youmu Konpaku from Touhou Project. To recreate the unique disposition of this half-human, half-phantom gardener maiden, we made extensive preparations with the scenery and props. Regarding wardrobe, a long-sleeved white top is cinched with a wide black sash over a green pleated mini skirt adorned with delicate floral embroidery and red blossoms along the side. Atop my head sits a black ribbon bow paired with a short silver-white bob. Echoing the canon design, a katana is slung across my back while holding a red oil-paper umbrella in hand. For footwear, I styled black and white checkered socks with red-strapped geta clogs—a combination that faithfully mirrors the character while demanding rigorous posture control.

The shoot was held in an atmospheric Japanese scene indoors. The backdrop featured muted green walls and folding screens beneath hanging round paper lanterns. Most striking of all was the lush cascade of pink cherry blossoms draping from the upper-right corner, which harmonized with the warm amber glow to imbue the frame with rich texture. Surrounded by wooden structures and paper lanterns, the ambient light skewed warm; photographer/retoucher @柏油小星瞳📸 dedicated immense care to lighting, giving my face ample dimension while preserving background depth. Posing with both the katana and the umbrella took constant recalibration; since both props are quite long, the slightest lapse would block my face or disrupt the composition. Emotionally, Youmu is earnest and cool-headed, so I kept my expressions restrained and refrained from smiling.

The outfit features a tightly cinched waistband, which, combined with the weight of the sword on my back, meant shifting my center of gravity slightly forward. Walking in black and white checkered socks and wooden geta required extra vigilance. To showcase the most flattering leg lines, I constantly fine-tuned my stance, tilting my torso at a slight angle toward the lens while ensuring the pleated hem flared gracefully. The entire session tested physical stamina and focus. The cherry blossoms were artificially staged on set; using the foreground sakura boughs against the green wall created a bold red-green contrast that is remarkably striking. Huge thanks to the photographer for meticulous lighting and to the crew for adjusting props. Both the composition and palette of this Japanese-style photoshoot achieved my ideal vision, and I hope everyone enjoys this Youmu set.
