For this March 2nd birthday shoot, we happened to catch the persistent drizzle of early spring. We dedicated a lot of thought to the hair, makeup, and props for this Sakura Matou cosplay look. I trimmed the bangs of the wig and straightened the side locks with a flat iron. Purple contact lenses served as the core of the makeup, and I intentionally chose matte shades for the eye makeup to avoid looking too heavy, hoping to capture the character's quiet, melancholic aura. For the costume, I went with a white lace sleeveless top accented by a large black ribbon at the waist; the black-and-white contrast made the purple hair stand out even more.

It rained lightly on the day of the shoot, which unexpectedly served as the perfect backdrop. The raindrops on the clear umbrella appeared crystalline in front of the lens, and we deliberately found a tree blooming with white flowers to serve as our background. With a wide aperture blurring the background, the blossoms' soft hues and the water droplets on the umbrella formed exquisite visual layers. The first shot—reaching out a hand to catch falling petals—took many attempts to capture a natural curve; to keep my arm from looking stiff, I constantly regulated my breathing and relaxed my shoulders. In the second shot, turning back for a three-quarter profile look, we caught a beautiful backlight: light filtering through the wet clear umbrella created gorgeous, dappled lens flares. The rainy day lighting was exceptionally soft, requiring no complicated fill-light gear—a single portrait lens was enough to achieve a delightfully transparent, airy look.

Shooting in the rain was admittedly chilly, and the white lace top clung slightly once damp, but seeing the finished photos radiate that chilly, solitary atmosphere made every bit of effort worthwhile. The entire shoot used no elaborate props; relying merely on the natural weather and a simple clear umbrella, we brought this early spring cherry blossom photography piece to life.
