[Chien Wu cosplay] Azur Lane Modified Cheongsam: Black Stockings Convention Photoshoot - Image 1

One finished photo from this Chien Wu cosplay modified cheongsam set is finally retouched, so I'm quickly posting it to document the dynamic vibe at the convention. Having just received the convention photos from photographer Yuzhi, the unique on-site convention atmosphere was maxed out instantly. This time, I chose Chien Wu's distinct styling from Azur Lane; to achieve the best results in these convention shots, substantial effort went into costumes, makeup, and props during pre-production.

First, let's talk about the costume details. The main visual features a satin-sheen blue fabric with vibrant red floral patterns that pop prominently, which, combined with the fabric's natural drape, creates an aesthetic both vintage and sharp. The cut of this Cheongsam cosplay is truly the core of the character's charm: the halter-neck design combined with a chest cut-out and a boldly cinched waist sculpts body curves clearly, while the high-slit skirt provides great posing versatility during shooting. The outer layer of sheer, pale-pink silk sash carries the soul of the entire look, which, paired with the white plush shoulder ornaments, keeps the broad blue palette from looking heavy.

In terms of accessories, I selected a sleek black short-straight wig accented with a large blue flower on the side, instantly capturing the character's spirit. Around my neck was a textured pearl necklace, and I held a black folding fan in hand. For the lower half, chunky black platform heels paired with black thigh-high stockings—accented with black garter straps on the thigh—made the stocking sheen stand out prominently under the convention lights during this Black stockings convention photoshoot, providing excellent visual elongation.

Moving on to the pose for this shoot: to highlight the flowing elegance of the outfit, I deliberately chose a dynamic stance standing on one leg while lifting the other with a bent knee. This movement demands high center-of-gravity control, especially in platform high heels—maintaining balance while letting the trailing skirt hem drape naturally across the polished floor. Raising the black folding fan high with my right hand while extending the breezy sash outward and downward with my left created dynamic diagonal tension across my body lines. Photographer Yuzhi provided patient guidance throughout, continuously tweaking angles to find the perfect low upward perspective that made the composition burst with commanding presence.

Environmentally, this was shot in a large convention exhibition center. The ceiling has a lofty height with neatly aligned metal trusses and spotlights, casting direct illumination that gave the environment a cool-toned ambience. The polished floor offered crisp reflections where I stood, greatly enhancing the frame's spatial depth and three-dimensionality. Blurring out background tourists and blue signage made the subject stand out even more. This cool-gray convention hall backdrop wonderfully accentuated the vibrant red-and-blue palette of the costume and the skin texture of the legs, creating a pleasing warm-and-cool contrast in post-processing color grading.

The anime convention floor was bustling and crowded; capturing such a clean full-body convention photo wasn't easy, requiring me to seize brief gaps in foot traffic, snap into pose immediately, and nail it in one take. Many thanks to the photographer for their hard work and meticulous retouching; the remaining photo is currently being processed. This look drew considerable attention at the venue, with many passersby pausing to appreciate this design merging strong Oriental elements with anime aesthetics. The greatest joy of doing cosplay is bringing a beloved character from Azur Lane into reality and expressing their charm through the on-site atmosphere.
