Sitting down on the spot while holding this massive geometric bladed sword, what struck me first was the intense visual impact delivered by this set of gear. Echoing that line from the original post, the core intention of this photoshoot was truly to recreate the unique aesthetic belonging to the world of Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
Preparing this look required considerable thought to balance visual fidelity with practical mobility during the shoot. Let's start with this weapon: although its overall dimensions are exaggerated, we opted for lightweight internal skeletal materials so it could be easily adjusted at different angles while shooting. The large white armor plates paired with crisp golden borders and inlaid green geometric crystals reflected a fantastic texture under ample studio lighting. Holding it half-raised continuously while coordinating body poses made controlling center of gravity much tougher than expected, and several times I worried the prop might slip from my hands onto the floor.
The tailoring of the costume is equally distinctive. The high collar and chest cutout design use clean black lines over white base fabric to sketch sharp contours, accented with gold piping and emerald green details to endow this styling with a highly modern fantasy Mecha style cosplay vibe. The neck accessories visually echoed the crown headpiece, ensuring the upper silhouette didn't look plain. The white long gloves on the arms have a certain thickness, complemented by green circular wrist accents; while slightly troublesome to put on and take off, once worn, they strongly accentuated the character's sense of power. The leg design continued the symmetrical aesthetic—gold pointed shoes paired with matching leg rings stood out vividly against the light-colored reflective floor. The dark gradient long streamer behind was a major source of dynamic motion; with just a slight airflow or a quick shift in pose, the streamer fluttered, wonderfully extending the visual tension in the frame.
We chose a clean, bright indoor studio with a light reflective floor that nicely captured ceiling lights and full-body reflections. The most eye-catching set decor was the bright green cross-star patterns on the walls and floor. Though minimalist, these patterns matched the costume's White and green color scheme logic seamlessly. Skillful lighting allowed the fluorescent green of these stars to blend harmoniously with the green accents across the weapon and costume, preventing empty visual voids from large white spaces. The photographer's framing was also clever, utilizing a low angle to highlight the sheer scale of the Greatsword prop while preserving the model's elongated leg poses. Under this angle and lighting, the glove fabric textures and weapon chamfer details appeared remarkably crisp and textured.
Seeing that remark in the post saying 'those who know this game already...' truly resonated deeply. While avoiding excessive character lore details, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 holds a special place in the hearts of JRPG enthusiasts. Its grand world-building, the bonds between Blades and Drivers, and the thrill of traversing vast plains and battling together all motivated us to recreate this setting with passion. Throughout crafting the costume and props, we reviewed countless reference illustrations, carefully studying color harmony and structural cuts. From the geometric angles of the headpiece to the line flows on the gloves, every element was finalized after rigorous refinement. We hoped to materialize that sci-fi and mythic ambiance through realistic lighting and camera lenses.
All in all, this studio shoot was a delightful creative journey. The weight of the Greatsword prop and the constraints of the costume ultimately transformed into rewarding details the moment the shutter snapped. I hope this share conveys the energy poured into this look and lets everyone feel the distinctive allure of the Xenoblade world through the light and shadow in these photos.
