The core visual concept for this shoot merged Dreamcore surrealism with the crushing pressure of the Gaokao. To build this environment, we filled the room with countless old exam papers—suspended from the ceiling, plastered across every wall, and carpeting the entire floor alongside crumpled draft sheets. Yellow honor roll certificates lined the walls, while crimson banners and ribbons spilled from corners, crafting a chaotic, absurd, yet painfully familiar classroom scene.
For wardrobe, we chose a classic white-and-navy sailor JK uniform paired with a pleated blue skirt, White stockings, and lace-up black loafers. Between the two models—one with straight black hair and the other with a short brown cut—round-frame glasses reinforced the studious 'test-taking machine' archetype. Red ribbons bound around their wrists or trailing across the floor materialized the weight of academic expectations.
Environmental interaction grounded every frame. In Classroom photography, contrasting heights works wonders: one student frantically wrote at her desk while the other perched atop the chair or desk looking downward to convey psychological despair. Tossing armfuls of exam sheets into the air captured dynamic movement against the other student's motionless focus. Seated back-to-back on the paper-strewn floor or resting a tired head on the other's lap reflected exhausted reliance under extreme stress, with White stockings standing out crisply against the sea of monochrome tests. Soft diffused daylight from windows kept shadows dense within paper folds, evoking the sweltering, hazy claustrophobia of final exams.
