This costume of Cartethyia has a massive amount of details, especially the blue gradient on the sleeve flares and skirt hem, along with the white pattern embroidery, which presents a very satisfying texture under the convention lighting. To restore the character's elf ears and white thorn crown, I worked on the wig styling long in advance, making the hair sectioning and small braids get as close to the original setting as possible. Taking convention photos at Wuhan Dreamland this time, it was quite hard to find a relatively clean background due to the heavy foot traffic on-site. However, the photographer @Yunranran was amazing at catching the right timing, utilizing a large aperture to blur out the surrounding crowds so the focus of the frame could concentrate entirely on the character. For the shot holding the weapon, I actually posed many times to achieve that lightweight feel; the weapon itself is quite heavy, and I needed to hold it firmly while keeping my posture stretched out and elegant. The combination of the inner black leather parts and the metal chains on the costume creates a strong sense of layering, and the outer semi-transparent gauze is incredibly lightweight, drifting with the wind as I walk, which is exactly why I especially love this cosplay look. I also ran into many fellow fans during the shoot, and everyone was super warm in greeting each other. Regarding the makeup, to highlight the elf's agile feel, the eyeshadow used a rather blue-purple tone paired with pink blush, wanting to make the overall temperament look gentle yet hold a touch of cool detachment. Although the convention lighting was complex, the light and shadow transition in the final photos looks very natural, without making the blue dress hem appear overly fluorescent. Overall, I am exceptionally satisfied with the output of this convention photo; the happiest part of cosplaying a character is being able to bring the details of a 2D character into reality through one's own understanding and styling.
