Bringing to life this Lemuen cosplay look from Arknights Ambience Synesthesia (inspired by the melodic resonance of "Until the earth turns into a lime") involved roughly half a month of adjustments between receiving the costume and the official shoot day. To capture Lemuen's poised, stoic, and commanding presence, I dedicated extensive effort to the makeup. The pink wig underwent multiple passes of trimming and setting before achieving this airy, multi-dimensional silhouette. For the eye makeup, I deliberately deepened the reddish tones, pairing them with vibrant red contact lenses to echo the golden mechanical eye accessory above my right eye. This bespoke accessory required specialized adhesive to stay put; being slightly hefty, I had to keep facial expressions restrained to prevent it from coming loose.
The garment design is exceptionally detail-rich: the predominantly white base is accented by deep navy striping and gilded trim. Beneath the circular blue gemstone accents across the chest and shoulders, I thoughtfully layered reflective backing so they would gleam with vivid brilliance under the studio lights. The pearl necklace and golden star pendant at my collar were added to elevate the character's tailored sophistication.
The long rifle stamped with "Vespera" in my hands presented the greatest physical hurdle throughout the shoot. Crafted from solid wood reinforced with metallic hardware, it carried formidable weight. To preserve elegant poise on camera, I experimented with diverse holding angles—simultaneously showcasing the rifle's craftsmanship while keeping my body balanced. Between takes, I had to continuously flex and shake out my wrists, which would otherwise ache and tremble from the strain.
Setting up the scene was equally labor-intensive. The background sculptures and pale drapery were chosen to evoke a sanctified, temple-like atmosphere, while artificial cotton snow and warm amber candlelight across the floor created a compelling warm-and-cool chiaroscuro contrast. Lying amidst the cotton drifts and candles required constant vigilance to protect the pristine white fabric from dripping wax, all while keeping my limbs dynamically poised.
Shooting right amidst the season of Ambience Synesthesia, the overall visual style pursued theatrical grandeur and stage-worthy elegance. To channel that unmistakable "listen to your big sister" authority, I refined my gaze and posture over and over—striking a balance between unwavering resolve and graceful composure. During the shoot, the photographer suggested using the long rifle as an anchor point, gently canting my body sideways to elongate the frame while accentuating the garment's tailored cuts. Because of the off-the-shoulder neckline, shifting postures easily bunched up the fabric, so my assistant stepped in after every sequence to smooth the skirt hem and shoulder accents.
For lighting, to harmonize with the light backdrop and white dress, we primarily used softboxes, placing warm candles in the foreground as practical ambient sources. This lighting setup was demanding on makeup, requiring precise highlight placement to avoid flat facial planes. Throughout the session, I continually contemplated the essence of Lemuen—her unflappable calm must be communicated through subtle body language, ensuring that even a static photograph vibrates with inner tension. Although exhausting, seeing the final cuts made every bit of effort completely worth it. This cosplay fulfilled my creative dream for this look, and I am glad to record this earnest journey.
