Shooting Rei Ayanami in a school swimsuit is actually an attempt to restore that unpretentious yet pure everyday sense she possesses. This black one-piece swimsuit, with its white trim and double shoulder strap design, might just seem like a common school swimsuit model in many people's eyes, but within the character's setting context, it can truly convey a quiet yet firm aura.

The shooting location this time wasn't the seaside; instead, an indoor artificial beach was specially arranged, paired with a red-and-white striped folding beach chair and a blue-and-white checkered picnic cloth. This bright color block contrast instead makes the light blue short hair and red pupils appear even clearer in the frame. In terms of props, an orange-red water gun and a few kinds of fruits were prepared; the embellishment of cherries and green grapes added some lively vitality to the overall slightly cold color tone.

When facing the lens, I tried my best to calm myself down, attempting to find that so-called "Kuudere" feel. This isn't about truly faking coldness, but letting a blank, spaced-out state leak through expressions and gazes, just like the summer wind. Many have said before that Rei Ayanami's charm lies in the unknown and silence; when putting on this outfit and sitting on the sand, one can actually break the silence through subtle physical movements. For example, pulling a shoulder strap or crossing hands in front of the body—such movements can both preserve the character's inherent cool detachment and prevent looking overly stiff.

In terms of hair and makeup, the light blue short hair is the soul, and combined with the two white hair accessories on the side, it is the key to quickly identifying the character. The makeup heavily emphasized the red pupils, with the lip color kept as low-key as possible to highlight the skin's inherent texture. Sweat during the shooting process did bring some minor troubles, such as the strands of the wig easily sticking to the face, but under the lens, this slight dampness instead increased the frame's vividness, making people feel this is a real life fragment.

Regarding the choice of composition, multiple angles were experimented with—some leaning toward a lazy kneeling pose, and others directly staring into the lens. When executing cosplay photography for this type of character, it heavily tests the photographer's mastery of the aura. There can't be too many emotional expressions, yet it must make people feel the frame has warmth. Therefore, I personally feel that the school swimsuit with its strong black-and-white contrast paired with the vibrant colors of the background is highly eye-catching.

After shooting this set of photos, looking back made me feel that the day's exhaustion was completely diluted by this freshness. Speaking of expression, compared to complex makeup effects, a suitable outfit paired with a mindset close to the character is perhaps the absolute best way to restore a classic figure. The cooperation with the photographer during the shooting process was quite tacit, and many scene inspirations were also sparked on set. I feel that besides the restoration, some minor designs more suited to this summer atmosphere were also incorporated.
