The cherry blossoms in Guangdong aren't as blooming as the silk floss trees, but it couldn't stop the restlessness in my heart to do something in the spring. So over the weekend, I dragged my friend out to shoot this photoset filled with a "pink filter." Putting on these clothes, my first feeling was a sense of weightlessness—not from the lightness of the material, but from that familiarity pulled back from memory.

The details of this look can truly pull someone right back to childhood. The cotton lace on the collar, the giant bow at the chest, and that pair of white feathered small wings attached to the straps on the back are slightly more substantial in weight than imagined, requiring constant attention to the stability of the shoulder straps. The magic wand was assembled and reinforced by myself; the small yellow heart and the orb at the top have a hard reflective feel under the light, holding a lot of weight in my hand with the white gloves. The layered puffy tulle of the skirt hem heavily tests the lighting setup. Fortunately, the noon light of a spring day in Guangdong is very sharp; under the intense light, the shadow layers of the skirt hem are clearly distinct, making the red and white color-clashing look exceptionally clean through the lens.

The shooting location was actually a city corner we searched for a long time. Those rows of gray metal railings happened to face a few trees of beautifully blooming pink flowers. Although visually it might not be the tall arborescent cherry blossoms, the interwoven palette of pink and green naturally carries a booming vitality. To capture a sense of interaction, we experimented with several scenes for this Dongguan photoshoot: sitting on concrete blocks of scattered heights, the stone steps under the railings, and leaning against the guardrails next to the roadside trees. I must say, this pink hat is highly practical; it can both strike a pose and block the piercing direct sunlight.

Characters with wings place quite a high demand on the cosplayer regarding movements. Originally, I wanted to imitate the classic spell-casting actions from the anime, but because the wings on both sides were a bit in the way, I almost poked the photographer's lens several times when raising my hand, making everyone burst into laughter. The most exhausting part was definitely the jumping snapshots; the skirt puffed up like a flying giant strawberry. In fact, I repeatedly jumped in that posture many times just to capture that lightweight, air-suspended split second. Fortunately, the sun was cooperative; the edges of my hair glowed under the backlighting, and paired with the white socks and red shoes coordination, the rendered effect instantly covered up all the fatigue during this spring photoshoot.

They always say spring is short in Guangdong and outdoor locations are hard to produce, but this time, shooting from early morning until mid-afternoon, the sky remained bright when we wrapped up. Honestly, it's really hard to squeeze out a solid block of time to carefully polish images when working weekdays, but since I spent the effort making props, finding outdoor locations, and adjusting the makeup and hair, I have to live up to the rendering inside the lens. Looking at those frozen pink petals and the fluttering skirt corners on the screen after shooting, I felt that occasionally making a bit of time to immerse oneself in what you love is indeed a highly necessary way to recharge.

Shifting the mood, even if I have to face endless spreadsheets every day, being able to dress up as my favorite character on the weekend and go wild under the sun is probably the most direct expression adults have toward their childhood. I hope there will be more sunny days like this in the future, allowing me to take my gear to various corners of the city to continue recording more magical moments through outdoor photography.
