The photos for this Rita "Sea Salt Frappe" styling are finally ready, and today I mainly want to share the styling ideas and shooting process behind this set.
Looking first at the wardrobe details: the core design is a black-and-white color-blocked bodysuit. Splicing an abundance of white ruffles along the neckline and cuffs softened the tough edge introduced by the leather straps. The harness straps across the chest, waist, and thighs are embellished with bright cyan-blue geometric and heart-shaped accents, which perfectly echo the violet-blue contact lenses. To harmonize with the overall look, I deliberately selected a short blonde wig, thinning and layering the bangs while tucking a lock behind my right ear; the beauty mark on my right cheek was also a focal point of the makeup. The patent leather chunky-heeled Mary Janes and the black thigh ring on my right leg served as the crowning touches of the styling, anchoring the visual balance nicely during movement.
The shooting location was scouted in a large indoor exhibition hall, taking advantage of overhead lighting and reflective floor tiles. To align with the "Sea Salt Frappe" theme, the photographer set up a small sandpit in the venue. The seated posture in Photo 1 was primarily designed to showcase upper-body detailing: extending my arms naturally allowed the layered ruffles and the trajectory of the harness straps to be captured crisply, while sitting also accentuated the waistline and overall silhouette. Photo 2 transitioned to a full-length standing pose, crossing my legs with one foot slightly on tiptoe, which, paired with the sand's light reflections, elongated the leg lines and fully displayed the thigh ring and patent leather heels. During shooting, I consciously kept my upper body upright and my shoulders slightly lowered to support this structural tailoring that blends maid aesthetics with combat elements.
Regarding hair and makeup: because the outfit leans dark, the eye makeup deepened the outer corners and elongated the eye shape, paired with dewy red lips so my complexion wouldn't read as pale under intense illumination. Setting the wig took some effort, especially securing the white pleated headpiece and the black side bows firmly to prevent shifting while posing.
The entire shoot went very smoothly. The photographer was adept at capturing motion and expressions, allowing me to settle into character with minimal direction. Although this look involves intricate nuances, moving in it was fairly comfortable, and standing in the sandpit was far less tiring than expected. In short, infusing my own understanding of the character into every strap and accessory, and preserving that process on camera, is deeply rewarding in itself.
